Job Description Summary:

As the Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy, you will shape the future direction of the company’s global brand and category portfolio—guiding how our brands win today while evolving to meet the needs of tomorrow. This role sits at the center of global marketing decision making, informing multiyear growth plans, identifying whitespace opportunities, shaping innovation pathways, and ensuring the portfolio reflects consumer expectations, market signals, and long-term business ambition.

We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and intellectually curious leader with deep expertise in marketing strategy, consumer insights, and portfolio architecture. The ideal candidate excels at synthesizing complex inputs into clear strategic implications and communicating decisive, actionable recommendations to senior leadership. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful global impact, shaping the future of some of the world’s most iconic and emerging beverage brands.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and evolve global portfolio strategy frameworks that guide long range category, brand, and growth planning across the organization.

  • Lead cross functional strategic initiatives that define portfolio growth pathways, including category mapping, brand role definition, and multi-year brand planning grounded in macro forces, consumer shifts, and long-term business ambition.

  • Identify and assess portfolio overlaps, gaps, and whitespace opportunities, leveraging existing and emerging frameworks to inform global innovation strategy and strengthen portfolio relevance and breadth.

  • Connect portfolio strategy to marketing investment decisions, integrating portfolio constructs (e.g., brand roles, brand clusters, equity ladders) with resource allocation models and marketing performance insights.

  • Conduct ongoing portfolio performance assessments, partnering with insights, finance, and marketing teams to ensure decisions are data informed and aligned with growth objectives.

  • Translate consumer and marketplace insights into strategic implications for brand architecture, positioning, and category prioritization, reflecting evolving demographics, behaviors, and psychographics.

  • Monitor global trends, competitive dynamics, cultural shifts, and category disruptions to inform future back portfolio pathways and sustain leadership in the global beverage landscape.

  • Build and curate best practice knowledge in portfolio strategy, drawing on cross industry inspiration, emerging methodologies, and global learnings to elevate the organization’s strategic capabilities.

  • Partner with cross functional teams—including insights, strategy, finance, category leads, and operating units—to ensure portfolio strategy is seamlessly embedded into brand planning, innovation, and marketing execution.

  • Support the development of annual and multi-year portfolio level marketing plans, ensuring global brand strategies align with consumer motivations, marketplace dynamics, and system priorities.

  • Design and apply strategic constructs (e.g., need pillars, demand spaces, where to win and when to win frameworks) to identify portfolio opportunities, risks, gaps, and overlaps.

  • Champion a consumer back, future forward mindset, ensuring the portfolio remains culturally relevant, distinctive, and positioned for sustained competitive advantage.

  • Communicate portfolio insights and strategic recommendations through compelling storytelling, strong synthesis, and clear decision pathways tailored for senior leadership.

  • Foster strong collaboration across the global system by building trusted relationships, sharing knowledge, and enabling alignment on portfolio choices across regions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, or Marketing (or related field); Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

  • 15+ years of experience in marketing strategy, portfolio strategy, category growth strategy, consumer insights, or strategic consulting, with global or multi market exposure.

  • Experience within The Coca Cola Company system or similarly complex global matrixed organizations strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in portfolio architecture, brand strategy, and category management.

  • Proven experience in human insights generation, translating insight into strategic action.

  • Deep understanding of consumer needs, motivations, demand spaces, and marketplace behavior, with the ability to synthesize implications across brands and categories.

  • Strong grasp of demographic, generational, and target segment evolution across geographies, categories, and portfolios.

  • Exceptional ability to frame complex problems, develop hypotheses, synthesize data, and deliver clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Experience working with or interpreting marketing mix modeling, performance dashboards, and resource allocation frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with comfort navigating multiple data and insight sources.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior executives and cross functional stakeholders.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively within complex, matrixed global organizations.

  • High digital literacy, including comfort with data tools, visualization platforms, and AI supported ways of working.

  • Inclusive leadership style with a strong commitment to working across cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

  • Continuous learner with an external orientation to emerging trends, methodologies, and best practices in portfolio and brand strategy.
