Reporting to the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations for the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE), the Senior Director of Engagement and Stewardship (SDES) provides direction and coordination of engagement and stewardship strategies for the college and its alumni base of more than 98,000 alumni and will develop a new model for collaboration between an academic unit, University Advancement and the Alumni Association to create a prototype for partnership that elevates the engagement and experiences of alumni and friends for EHE. The SDES leads development of a comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship plan for the college with the goal of driving donor satisfaction and continued giving while also providing strategic direction on stewardship including gift acknowledgments, impact reporting, fund management, personalized stewardship plans, and correspondence with major gift donors from leadership.
The SDES will supervise assigned support staff to oversee the essential component of building a healthy pipeline of engaged alumni, donors and volunteers that will contribute to establishing the annual fundraising goals within EHE and that aligned with the university goals. As a member of the EHE Advancement team and an active partner with colleagues across campus and the Alumni Association the SDES develops and coordinates opportunities for EHE alumni, donors and friends that broaden and deepen relationships, promotes engagement and stewardship both universally and college-specific. The SDES serves as a subject-matter expert to OSUAA peers, providing insight into the alumni population, faculty, college and programs. This position identifies opportunities for cross-institution programming activities, embracing the university/Advancement calendar to work pro-actively with all partners to ensure maximized funding with alumni engagement and stewardship experiences. The SDES has organizational responsibility for the collection and recording of data to ensures that all EHE events and volunteer activities are incorporated into the advancement database that will be required to track the effectiveness of programming. In addition, the SDES is responsible for the college's overall volunteer engagement and stewardship strategy that sets the tone for how engagement, stewardship and development officers work with volunteer groups and EHE advancement leadership team. The SDES will manage EHE Alumni Society, developing meaningful agendas and best practices for committee oversight, and overseeing the work of engagement officers who are partnered with DOs, departments, and departmental advisory committees. All members of Advancement are part of creating an inclusive culture that inspires an exceptionally diverse and talented team and are measured on their adherence to the following core competencies: leadership, continuous improvement, teamwork and collaboration, and communication/interpersonal effectiveness. This role requires ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and travel.
15%- Management of Director of Stewardship. Management the Director of Stewardship role. This role is responsible for stewardship for the EHE Advancement team overseeing the scholarship awards, fund management, scholarship reporting, scholarship celebration in partnership with the events team and other duties as assigned.
30% - Alumni Engagement responsibilities primarily managing the alumni board. Collaborating with the alumni association on engagement opportunities for our alumni. Working on alumni engagement events in collaboration with our events team.
20%- Stewardship responsibilities will include impact reporting and collaborating with the Director of Stewardship on specialized stewardship opportunities for major gift donors.
30% - Annual giving responsibilities will include partnering with the alumni association on annual giving goals. Working on buckeyefunder campaigns, day of giving, direct mail campaigns, etc
5%- Any duties that further the mission of EHE and Advancement.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be required. 8 years of relevant experience required. 12 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
The Target Hiring Range for this position is $103,000.00 - $134,500.00
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
