The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to establish the North-Star standard for Operational Excellence for Roche/Genentech’s High Volume CVRM portfolio in Holly Springs. 

The Head of Operational Excellence will drive Operational Excellence and Transformation into the design and start-up of the new Holly Springs site to deliver On-time start up, with high-throughput at optimal product cost and efficiency. This role will design-in and optimize the end-to-end product flow and cycle-time of medicines through the plant, using a blend of Lean, Operational Excellence tools with newest generation Industry 4.0 technology. 

The role will also manage the plant Business Intelligence strategy, ensuring the IT/OT infrastructure and business systems deliver optimal analytics and intelligence to enable clear, objective decision making through all tiers of the plant from shop-floor to site leadership. 

The role will be a key member of the Holly Springs Site Leadership Team, directing, managing and overseeing the development of site processes to ensure a zero-waste mentality across the plant. The site Head of OpEx will drive both strategic plans that deliver the site vision while disciplined tactical plans that deliver the day-to-day business. The Operational Excellence program will be the engine of Continuous Improvement driving a pipeline of Lean and Six Sigma projects while installing a Standard Lean Production System across all functions of the plant on Day 0. The role will work across Operations, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain to deliver Industry Top Decile performance in SQDEC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, Cost & Digital). 

The role will also lead long-term site strategy setting and deployment to position the Holly Springs site as an industry leader in High-Volume, CVRM manufacturing for the future. The Head of OE will influence the organization to ‘bake-in’ Lean Principles, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement into the core DNA and culture of the plant. 

  • You will manage the Operational Excellence team, Business Intelligence team, site Lean/Six Sigma program and matrixed into all on-site functions to deliver value. 

  • You will create an environment of strong team spirit, urgency, timely and effective communications, high motivation and inspire teams to achieve goals in the immediate and longer term. Proactively promote positive Safety Culture and cGMP operating principles

  • You will be an active and visible change agent, promoting flexible and open mindsets to new opportunities. 

  • You will establish strategic goals and objectives and maintain full strategic responsibility for the organization

  • You will drive collaboration within site and across network activities, cross-functional planning, and decision making

  • You will own the site Cost Improvement strategy to deliver on COGS goal. 

  • You will embody operating principles and methods while fostering a continuous improvement mindset

  • You will be responsible for implementation and continuous improvement of business processes at the site (e.g., Business Process Management, Operations Reviews, Resource Management) to include establishing tiered business governance up to SLT. 

  • Provides leadership for Lean Production System and coaching for improvement and optimization projects covering Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement and Cost (SQDEC).

  • Oversees business process management and the teams supporting continuous improvement

  • You will manage the Business Intelligence of the plant - developing, implementing and monitoring Site Goals and KPI’s with the IT/OT team. 

  • You will provide oversight and ownership for the site Business Continuity Management

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, technical or sciences  with extensive Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt Required (Master Black Belt preferred) 

  • You have 15+ years’ work experience in the pharmaceutical, FMCG, food or device industry. 

  • You have 10 years of leadership experience in Operations or Operational Excellence in Fast Moving, High Volume, Low Margin environment with demonstrated value delivery and site wide influence.

  • You have a proven track record of implementing continuous improvement programs with quantifiable business results

  • You have extensive experience working in and influencing decisions in matrix organizations

  • You have expert knowledge of network and site business developments, opportunities and challenges

  • You are able to think strategically and translate strategies into actionable plans

  • Excellent collaborator with cross-functional customers and network partners

  • You are able to foster a culture of continuous improvement

  • Monitors organizational performance through key performance indicators

  • You have advanced facilitation skills and change agent abilities 

  • You build trustful and effective relationships

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Holly Springs is $206,000 - $384,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
