Senior Director, Foundation & Community Engagement

Summary:

The Senior Director of Foundation and Community Engagement will manage the development and execution of the organization’s philanthropic and community engagement initiatives. Leveraging the unique platform of professional baseball, this role is dedicated to driving meaningful social impact across our local markets and fan base. The Senior Director will oversee a team of program staff, guiding their efforts across community outreach, employee volunteerism, and the team's charitable foundation. This leader will ensure that all programming aligns with the franchise’s core values, maximizes community benefit, and fosters strong relationships with community partners, corporate sponsors, front-office staff, and players.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Community Programs

  • Oversee the execution of community outreach programs that address the critical needs of the local market while aligning with the franchise’s social responsibility goals

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, and community stakeholders, to identify partnership opportunities and assess community needs

  • Oversee the strategic distribution of in-kind donations, including tickets, merchandise, and memorabilia, to maximize community goodwill and support local nonprofit fundraising efforts

  • Review and approve sponsorship and charitable contributions made by the NY Mets, ensuring consistency and strategic alignment of organization’s charitable giving across multiple departments

Inclusion & Employee Engagement

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Inclusion & Community to implement a robust employee engagement and volunteer program that encourages professional growth and active participation in community service

  • Coordinate with the Inclusion & Community departments of affiliates around joint programing and events

  • Support the development and activities of the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and help identify collaborative opportunities for ERGs and their members to participate in community outreach

  • Manage employee engagement data and track department KPI’s to support organizational reporting for leadership

Foundation Programs & Donor Relations

  • Develop and manage the Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s programmatic initiatives, focusing on core pillars such as youth education, health and wellness, community development, and access to youth baseball and softball

  • Coordinate activities with the foundation grantmaking team for grant funded charitable program initiatives

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships department around negotiation and implementation of corporate support for charitable programs

  • Act as a thought partner in the planning and execution of major foundation fundraising initiatives, including the annual gala, online auctions, and in-stadium 50/50 raffles

  • Partner with Communications staff to create compelling fundraising campaigns and donor communication materials that effectively convey the foundation's impact and encourage ongoing financial support

Strategy & Administration

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of program staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive team culture

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and identify professional development opportunities to support the growth and retention of department staff

  • Partner with finance staff to develop and manage the annual operating budgets for both the Community Engagement department and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, ensuring financial efficiency and responsible resource allocation

  • Ensure all department operations, data systems, and reporting procedures are efficient, accurate, and aligned with organizational standards

Salary Range: $150,000 - $210,000
