Senior Director, Actuarial

Manulife is looking for an experienced actuary for the product pricing function. The candidate should be experienced in actuarial pricing and familiar with the insurance illustration and administration system.  The candidate will be exposed to a diversified portfolio of projects to help Manulife leading in the dynamic market with changing regulatory / financial reporting requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of junior actuaries to provide technical pricing solutions and commercial recommendation on various product, distribution compensation and strategic marketing initiatives to maximize the growth and value generation of Manulife insurance franchise.  Drive the risk analysis, propose mitigation plan, and obtain product approval from key stakeholders in local, regional and group office.

  • Collaborate with Product and Proposition Management to develop the product solutions that can cater the emerging need of customer need under multi-channel distribution strategy.

  • Collaborate with Agency and Partnership Distribution to enhance and optimize the compensation design to ensure distribution channels aligning with our value growth ambition.

  • Support various product pricing maintenance activities including risk reporting, assumption review, product review and par policy ongoing communication.

  • Work with other team leaders to cultivate a highly collaborative atmosphere and developing talent within the organization.

  • Provide sounds advice on the development of pricing and product strategy in response to the changing regulatory environment, financial reporting requirements as well as financial and risk target of the group.

  • Expose to the development of a wide range of product lines and pricing functions on rotation basis, including participating products, protection products, universal life and investment linked products, as well as investment strategy design and par management design.

Required Qualifications:

  • Internationally recognized actuarial designation such as FSA/FCIA with 12 years of actuarial experience.

  • Experienced in product pricing of direct business and strong knowledge in the individual insurance market of Hong Kong.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial issues and concepts.

  • Strong business acumen and communication skill. Able to present actuarial findings as convincing business implication to the senior management from Product, Distribution, Finance and Risk functions.

  • Strong leadership skill. Ability to manage multiple priorities with demanding deadlines.
