Senior Designer, Layout

About the Role
As a Senior Designer, Layout, you are an experienced, fully competent layout professional working independently to deliver high-quality solutions. You will handle diverse layout problems requiring sophisticated analysis and evaluation, while representing ADI on significant projects and serving as a technical resource for less experienced team members.

In this job you will work within the Industrial Connectivity and Control (ICC) Business Unit developing highly sophisticated signal chain products targeting the Industrial, Ethernet and other Broad markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Layout of integrated circuits including the ability to place and route active and passive devices in Cadence
  • Floorplan development, (block, sub-system, chip) of significant size/complexity.
  • Physical verification for tapeout (LVS, DRC, Density, Extraction, EM).
  • Strong collaboration with Analog Designers to solve challenging problems
  • Handles diverse layout problems requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation
  • Works with minimal supervision on complex assignments
  • Independently designs and implement complex integrated circuit layouts


Must Have Skills

  • Advanced Layout Expertise: Broad application of layout principles and concepts with established proficiency
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced skills in IC layout, CMOS technology, static timing analysis, power analysis, and EDA tools
  • Process Optimization: Ability to evaluate and optimize layout designs for performance, power, and manufacturability
  • Business Acumen: Good understanding of business objectives and market position
  • Team Communication: Strong group communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts


Key Qualifications:

  • The candidate should have a good practical knowledge of analogue and mixed signal layout techniques and experience on Cadence Layout tools (Virtuoso) and Mentor Graphics verification systems (Calibre).
  • The candidate should be comfortable working independently as well as in large multi-site teams.
  • The candidate should be able to complete very complex tasks with a minimum of supervision and be comfortable working directly with circuit design engineers.
  • Experience in the layout or physical design of a wide variety of circuit types is required: i.e. ADCs, DACs, LDOs, PLLs, BGAP, amplifiers etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to work with cross functional teams  
  • A background knowledge on semiconductor device physics
  • Good problem-solving skills are essential where problems are analyzed upfront, identifying gaps, and providing optimum solutions
  • Knowledge in Skill/perl/tcl scripting is a plus.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's & Master's degree in Electronics and Communication/Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
