The pay range is $92,000.00 - $166,000.00

The Limited-Time Partnerships Designer for Apparel & Accessories brings Target’s exclusive collaborations to life by translating partnership concepts into innovative, guest-loved apparel and accessory collections. Once Marketing has identified and secured external collaborators (designers, brands, influencers), this role becomes the creative anchor — guiding partners through Target’s product design process and shaping capsule collections that deliver style, value, and excitement.
You will design and develop limited-time apparel and accessories assortments, ensure aesthetic and brand alignment, and work cross-functionally with the Home team to create cohesive multi-category partnership experiences. This role requires a blend of visual design talent, multi- aesthetic design fluency, collaboration strength, strong communication skills, and exceptional project leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative Collaboration & Partner Management
- Partner with Marketing to onboard external designers/brands once selected.
- Act as the primary creative liaison for all apparel and accessory components of the partnership.
- Lead creative working sessions with external collaborators to translate their brand DNA into Target-right product concepts.
- Guide partners through Target’s design process, expectations, timelines, and quality standards.
- Ensure brand integrity and cohesive aesthetic throughout the apparel & accessories collection.
- Collaborate with Home design partners to maintain a unified cross-category visual identity when collections span both A&A and Home.
- This role requires periodic travel to partner locations in order to foster collaboration, build strong relationships, and gather inspiration that will help shape the creative direction.
- While our team is primarily located in Minneapolis, we’re open to remote designers who bring the right expertise and are able to maintain strong communication and partnership.
Apparel & Accessories Product Design
- Translate partnership vision into apparel and accessory designs, including sketches, CADs, print development, color palettes, material direction, and branding elements.
- Build and refine line architecture: SKU counts, silhouettes, size range, fabrication, seasonal needs, and price/value positioning.
- Work closely with Technical Design, Sourcing, and Product Development to ensure quality, fit, and manufacturability align with Target standards.
- Review samples, oversee fit intent, and drive necessary revisions throughout development.
- Contribute to packaging, labeling, and branding process to ensure elements align with the collaboration’s overall creative direction.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution
- Work with Merchandising partners to align product design with the assortment strategy and financial goals.
- Partner with Marketing and Creative teams to influence campaign visuals and storytelling that connect seamlessly to the apparel & accessories collection.
- Partner with the Home design team for cross-category consistency when applicable.
- Manage timelines and drive execution milestones from concept to pre-production to launch.
- Lead internal design reviews, alignment sessions, and milestone meetings.
Launch Support & Post-Launch Insights
- Support Visual Merchandising, Styling, and Photography teams to ensure product is represented accurately and on brand.
- Ensure digital and in-store presentation reflects design intent and elevates the guest experience.
- Participate in post-launch recaps to provide apparel & accessories–specific insights into performance, guest feedback, and future opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field — or equivalent experience.
- 3–7 year’s experience in apparel and/or accessories design, with demonstrated experience developing collections or capsules.
- A strong portfolio showcasing apparel design excellence, creative range, brand collaboration work, and trend-forward aesthetic capability.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Strong understanding of materials, fabric development, garment construction, fittings, technical packages, and retail manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, especially with external creative partners.
- Ability to stay flexible and integrate feedback while maintaining design integrity and project vision
- Strong capability to lead multiple seasonal projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Experience designing multi-category capsule collections, limited-edition product lines, or designer/brand collaborations.
- Familiarity with multi-category launches and working in partnership with Home or other teams to build cohesive guest experiences.
- Understanding of licensing, IP, and co-branded product considerations (helpful but not required).
- Previous experience with or knowledge of Target’s design process, brand standards, and Guest insights.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
