Senior Data Scientist I

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Research and develop statistical/machine learning models to analyze structured and unstructured data by ideating and experimenting with new methodologies to generate predictive scores and attributes. Lead the design and development of data acquisition and machine learning models to produce key attributes that can leverage in risk segmentation models. Ideate, research, and design new and innovative analytics and data science methodologies on large scale and complex data assets. Store, archive, index, transfer, and analyze large and complex datasets (structured and unstructured data). Work with peers to share subject matter expertise, transfer skills, and develop knowledge base. Explore and mine new data sources to help optimize and validate existing models. Have a thorough understanding of the team's core functions and technologies. Stay current on emerging knowledge and technologies that impact the team's success and performance. Be consulted by internal stakeholders to assess and troubleshoot challenges requiring their functional expertise. Make important contributions to the team's success using their technical and professional expertise. Apply organization and/or business knowledge to address issues facing the team. Help develop and articulate a sound business and technical strategy for the team. Successfully apply expertise to advance the team's objectives. Welcome new ideas and methods to establish and achieve stretch goals within the team. Establish high standards that elevate the team's performance and benefit everyone on the team. Consistently communicate team goals and milestone achievements to internal stakeholders. Accept new approaches and ideas from the team. Encourage internal stakeholders to share best practices and new ideas with the team. Take measures to advance new ideas within the team rather than discourage them. Perform other duties as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Data Science, Quantitative Research, or a related field required.

  • 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required.

  • Also required is: 2 years of experience: in the Insurance industry, with knowledge of Property and Casualty Claims; with ML techniques including hypothesis testing, sample design, model development (linear and non-linear models), validation of machine learning models; programming in Python and/or R, with extensive experience with their standard data manipulation and ML packages, pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, XGBoost, PyTorch in Python and rpart, party, caret in R) and Scala; learning and working with new technologies Pyspark, ECL, Azure/AWS ML Services and sharing cross-functional knowledge across the teams; generating Pivot Tables in Microsoft Excel; and creating documentation and presentations in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Employee reports to LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Inc. office in Alpharetta, GA, but may telecommute from any location within the U.S.

  • Experience can be concurrent.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $93,400 - $155,700. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.
