The role of the data team is to make this possible by treating data like a production asset, making it available company-wide, and using it proactively to empower smarter decisions for teams and users.
By joining us as a Data Engineer, you will have a pivotal role in large projects, bringing your data modelling and engineering expertise to help us meet our high delivery standards.
HOW you will contribute to the company
As a Data Engineer, you will join the Self Service Analytics team, which is part of our data engineering community (20+ people) within our dynamic Data department (50+ people).
You will collaborate with data analysts to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable models and data services that support making data-driven decision across the company.
You will model data as a product and shape how it is structured in our data lake across our medallion architecture for all Pennylaners to consume.
You will build and maintain our data analytics platform, handling data ingestion, validation and establishing data as a core part of our production systems.
You will contribute to our data governance initiatives, helping to maintain our data catalogue and to uphold high standards of data quality and compliance.
You will help design and implement data solutions, including ETL pipelines, batch processing systems, and data warehousing.
You will work alongside other data engineering teams focused on streaming and infrastructure, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
WHAT you can expect from your life at Pennylane
Within one month:
You will learn everything about our company, our teams, and our vision during the first onboarding week.
You will get familiar with our stack, and have delivered a few small projects which will give you a concrete taste of our tools & processes.
You will be given time to meet your future stakeholders, and gain a deep knowledge of our product and operations.
Within 3 months:
You will be fully in charge of items in our roadmap, defining and prioritising your tasks autonomously.
You will be comfortable with our data abstractions, core business logic and technical stack (ETL orchestration, data warehousing, event tracking, visualisation tools).
You will have a good understanding of the data in your dedicated scope.
You will contribute to larger cross-team projects.
Within 6 months:
You will proactively contribute to the team’s roadmap.
You will work with engineers and data practitioners on improving our stack, data platform and data modelling practices.
You will share your learnings and best practices within the team.
And beyond: the data team will continue growing with the company
