Aspire Living and Learning is seeking a Director of Information Technology (IT). The Director of IT provides hands-on strategic and operational leadership for Aspire Living & Learning’s technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust, secure, and scalable IT environment that advances Aspire’s mission. The Director oversees IT systems, networks, hardware, software, cybersecurity, and end-user support while ensuring seamless operations and alignment with organizational priorities. 
 
As a key member of the leadership team, the Director partners with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure technology solutions effectively support Aspire’s programs, services, and strategic goals. 

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership & Strategy 

  • Develop and execute a long-term technology roadmap aligned with Aspire’s mission and operational goals. 
  • Identify emerging technologies that enhance service delivery, employee experience, and data management. 
  • Lead IT project planning, budgeting, execution, and risk mitigation. 
  • Maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and security plans tailored to nonprofit constraints. 
  • Oversee network, phone, and security systems; manage upgrades and technology conversions with minimal disruption. 

 Infrastructure & Technical Management 

  • Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and performance of IT systems, including servers, networks, cloud platforms, and approximately 600 computers. 
  • Ensure reliable connectivity, data backup, and system monitoring across all locations. 
  • Provide hands-on oversight of systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, EHR, HRIS, accounting/payroll platforms, Cisco switches, VoIP, and virtualization technologies. 
  • Maintain documentation for all systems and configurations. 

 Cybersecurity & Compliance 

  • Implement cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive donor, client, and organizational data. 
  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and nonprofit data standards. 
  • Monitor system vulnerabilities and lead timely upgrades and remediation. 

 Leadership & Team Development 

  • Lead, develop and grow a lean team of IT professionals.  
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture focused on continuous learning and mission alignment. 
  • Conduct supervision, goal setting, and performance evaluations. 
  • Build strong relationships with organizational leaders to understand technology needs and develop responsive, efficient solutions. 

 Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with departments including Finance, People & Culture, Clinical Services, and Operations to align technology with business needs. 
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical staff and leadership. 
  • Support the rollout of new systems that improve program delivery and operational efficiency. 
  • Participate in organizational planning and policy development, providing expert guidance on technology infrastructure and data management. 

Budgeting & Vendor Management 

  • Manage technology budgets with a focus on cost-efficiency and impact. 
  • Negotiate with vendors and service providers to secure favorable terms and support. 
  • Partner with external consultants to manage systems and ensure effective support across Aspire’s locations. 

 

Qualifications 

 Education & Certification 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field required. 
  • Master’s degree in Management or Business Administration preferred. 
  • ITIL certification required; vendor certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, Apple) strongly preferred. 

 Experience 

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including management of teams and enterprise systems. 
  • Proven success in digital transformation, cloud migration and infrastructure oversight. 
  • Experience in multi-site or nonprofit/human services environments strongly preferred.

Working Conditions 

  • Hybrid role: Eligible to work remotely up to three days per week. 
  • Requires periodic travel to Aspire’s program sites, offices, and group homes. 
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds. 
  • Requires regular use of computer equipment, video display terminals, and office tools. 
  • Must be able to maintain composure and effective communication under stress.
