About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a software development background to lead and evolve data tracking and event instrumentation for digital products. This role focuses on building reliable, scalable, and high-quality data collection at the source, working closely with Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Data teams.
This is a hands-on senior role with strong technical ownership and influence over tracking standards and implementation practices.
What you'll do:
- Technically lead decisions related to data tracking and event instrumentation, defining standards and best practices across web and mobile applications.
- Design and implement data tracking and event instrumentation solutions for digital products.
- Work directly in application code to implement, maintain, and evolve tracking events, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Partner with Product, Analytics, and Data teams to define events, properties, and tracking plans aligned with business objectives.
- Integrate applications with tracking tools and CDPs (e.g., Segment), ensuring secure and reliable data delivery.
- Define and implement technical validations and control mechanisms to ensure events are correctly fired and schemas remain consistent.
- Support and enforce data quality and data governance practices applied to data collection from the source.
- Investigate and resolve complex tracking issues, including broken events, data loss, and integration failures, performing root cause analysis.
- Perform impact analysis related to changes in application code, tracking events, and downstream integrations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation on instrumentation patterns, tracking standards, and data flows.
- Act as a technical reference and mentor, guiding other engineers on best practices for data tracking and instrumentation.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Solid experience as a Senior Software Engineer or Senior Data Engineer, with strong hands-on development experience.
- Proven experience with event instrumentation and data tracking in digital products.
- Hands-on experience with tracking tools / CDPs (e.g., Segment, RudderStack, Snowplow).
- Strong experience working with APIs, SDKs, and system integrations.
- Ability to analyze and debug complex technical issues related to tracking and data collection.
- Strong SQL, Python and Data Modeling
- Working with Databricks and Git
- Experience working collaboratively with Product, Analytics, and Data teams.
- Advanced English.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with data observability and monitoring practices.
- Experience in digital products, mobile apps, or DTC platforms.
- Knowledge of privacy, consent management, and data protection regulations.
- Exposure to data platforms or analytics pipelines.
