What is the opportunity?

The RBC Insurance Team is currently undertaking a multiyear journey of modernization and transformation of the core Insurance applications.  As part of this transformation there will be multiple initiatives working with leading edge technologies, RBC Enterprise groups and other parts of RBC.  In this role you will be responsible for planning, architecting, and designing the future state data landscape for RBC Insurance and assisting teams to move from current to new future state.  The role will develop, work with the multi-disciplinary Insurance Architecture team, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished on time.

What will you do?

  • Work with Business Partners, Insurance Architecture, Enterprise Data Architecture and Chief Data Officer’s office to work on initiatives of varying complexity to contribute to and define the overall Insurance Data Architecture and to build a future state analytical ecosystem for RBCI.

  • Work with leading edge technologies and project initiatives to enable RBCI’s data strategy & vision of being a data driven organization using data as a competitive advantage.

  • Support business and technology innovation.

  • Collaborate and contribute on cross-functional Insurance and enterprise initiatives and manage the effective implementation of assigned deliverables.

  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.

What do you need to succeed?

 Must have:

  • Experience leading complex data architecture engagements or projects in a large enterprise.

  • Solid technical understanding of database technologies including big data, NoSQL, RBDMS, Data Warehousing, Metadata Management and Modeling at a minimum.

  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.

  • Executive stakeholder management skills.

  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently, high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have

  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.

  • Data in the cloud – AWS, Azure including Lambda & Kappa architectures

  • Data architecture experience from non-financial services (Retail, Manufacturing, Transport, Communications, other..)
