This position reports to the Group Head: Customer Engagement
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
- Own subscription growth forecasting, including detailed component-level predictions (free-to-paid conversions, reactivations, cancellations, tier migrations)
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports tracking subscription KPIs, member behaviour, and service utilisation
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve subscription attribution measurement and reporting
- Conduct root-cause analyses of subscription metric variances and performance changes
- Analyse subscription customer lifetime value, retention patterns, and churn drivers
- Develop data-driven recommendations for subscriber growth strategies and retention initiatives
- Build predictive models to identify at-risk subscribers and growth opportunities
- Design and analyse A/B tests to optimise subscription experience and conversion funnels
Cross Group Analytics
- Own cross-platform growth forecasting, including detailed component-level predictions
- Develop and maintain attribution frameworks for cross-platform customer journeys and acquisition paths
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports tracking cross-platform rates, attribution and customer behaviour across cohorts.
- Investigate cross-platform performance issues and variances through root-cause analysis
- Conduct cohort analyses, tracking customer behaviour and value creation across the ecosystem
- Map customer interactions across Takealot and Mr D to identify cross-selling and migration opportunities
- Create actionable customer segmentation strategies for targeted marketing and product initiatives
TakealotMORE & Cross Group Marketing Performance
- Measure and optimise marketing campaign performance across the full funnel for TakealotMORE and cross-platform initiatives
- Drive ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) optimisation recommendations for marketing investments
- Establish marketing performance accountability frameworks with measurable growth targets
- Conduct comprehensive new subscriber and customer acquisition analytics, including acquisition cost and performance optimisation
- Track and optimise cross-platform marketing attribution and impact
- Develop marketing attribution frameworks to track customer acquisition and conversion across subscription marketing channels
- Create marketing performance dashboards tracking campaign-driven subscription metrics and acquisition patterns
- Conduct competitive intelligence analysis to inform cross-group marketing strategies and positioning
- Develop and maintain marketing budget allocation frameworks and ROI measurement standards
- Lead marketing performance reviews and accountability reporting across the group
Strategic Analysis & Collaboration
- Collaborate with data engineering and analysts in the business units to ensure data quality, accessibility and correct attribution measurement
- Partner with Marketing, Product, and Technology teams on cross-platform growth and marketing optimisation
- Prioritise and manage analytics/BI requests and backlog; produce executive reports for marketing and growth performance
- Document analytical methods, technical specifications and processes; drive process improvement and knowledge management
- Lead analytical strategy and methodology development across TakealotMORE and Cross Group initiatives
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including marketing leadership and C-suite
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years of analytical experience in commercial analytics, management consulting, market research, or similar roles
- Experience with growth target setting and performance accountability reporting
- Experience handling large datasets and building business models
- Experience with subscriptions and/or cross-platform businesses
- Experience developing marketing performance frameworks and accountability systems
- Retail/e-commerce or data science exposure is beneficial
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product, and technology teams
- Marketing analytics experience, including campaign performance, attribution modelling, and ROAS optimisation
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Core Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL and R or Python
- Experience working with Google BigQuery (GBQ) and Looker (or similar platforms)
- Google Analytics expertise and certification advantageous
- Advanced statistical methods, hypothesis testing, experimental design, and research methodology
- Machine learning techniques, forecasting model development, and advanced modelling techniques
Marketing & Analytics Expertise
- Marketing attribution modelling and cross-channel attribution
- Customer journey analytics, LTV modelling, cohort analysis, segmentation
- A/B testing design and analysis for both product and marketing initiatives
- ROAS analysis and marketing performance measurement
- Marketing automation platforms and MarTech stack management
- Brand tracking and market research methodologies

Business & Presentation
- Advanced presentation skills with Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides)
- Executive dashboard development and visual storytelling
- Strong data extraction/manipulation and technical documentation
- Marketing technology integration and process optimisation
- Ability to manage multiple analytical projects and stakeholder requests simultaneously
- Deep understanding of digital commerce KPIs, conversion funnels, and customer acquisition
