Job Summary:

Lead complex institutional research initiatives and high impact analytical projects that inform strategic
planning, operational effectiveness, and policy development across the district. Design and implement
advanced data analyses, develop scalable data processes, and produce comprehensive analytical reports
and dashboards that support executive and mid-level decision making.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, multi-phase research projects, defining scope, deliverables, methodologies, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Design and conduct advanced descriptive, inferential, and trend analyses to support institutional planning, accreditation, assessment, and compliance reporting.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain scalable scripts and queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, and automation, ensuring performance efficiency and sustainability.
  • Design and implement structured data validation frameworks; review and validate outputs produced by Data Analysts and Data Coordinators to ensure data integrity and methodological accuracy.
  • Develop advanced dashboards and visual analytics solutions using established best practices and implementing forward analytical methodologies, ensuring alignment with the Institutional
  • Research Office standards and broad institutional usability.
  • Produce comprehensive analytical reports that synthesize quantitative findings, contextual interpretation, and strategic implications for diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Design and improve data collection and workflow processes across systems, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve systemic data issues and enhance efficiency.
  • Lead institution-wide integrated survey projects, including research design consultation, sampling methodology, data analysis, and executive-level reporting.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and primary resource for complex data inquiries, providing consultative support to academic and administrative leaders.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Data Analysts and Data Coordinators, supporting skill development in analysis, visualization, documentation, and scripting practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation standards for analytical processes, data definitions, validation protocols, and user guides to ensure transparency, audit readiness, and continuity.
  • Represent the Institutional Research Office on cross-functional committees and strategic initiatives, contributing analytical expertise to institutional planning discussions.
  • Develop advanced dashboards and visual analytics solutions using established best practices and implementing forward analytical methodologies, ensuring alignment with the Institutional
  • Research Office standards and broad institutional usability.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Knowledge of higher education data systems and institutional data environments preferred.
      • Strong knowledge of relational databases and structured data modeling concepts.
      • Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex querying, optimization, and performance tuning preferred.
      • Working knowledge of Python, R, or similar programming languages for data preparation, statistical analysis, and automation preferred.
      • Advanced knowledge of data validation methodologies and root cause analysis of data discrepancies.
      • Strong understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics, trend analysis, and appropriate methodological selection.
      • Advanced knowledge of data visualization standards and dashboard design principles; ability to design institutional-level dashboards using Tableau or similar tools.
      • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex analyses into clear, strategic narratives tailored to varied audiences.
      • Knowledge of survey research design, sampling approaches, instrument validation, and response analysis.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
      • Ability to coach and mentor colleagues in analytical techniques, documentation quality, and best practices.
      • Ability to maintain effective collaborative relationships across academic and administrative units. • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

      Physical Demands, Working Conditions, and Physical Effort

      Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

      Requirements:

      Bachelor's degree in information or data sciences, Business or Data Analytics, Statistics, Social Sciences, Planning or Assessment, Administration, or related fields.

      At least three (3) years of full-time related experience or equivalent required.

      Preferred:

      Master's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.

      Experience in higher education is preferred.
