Senior Cyber Consultant

The role

As a Senior Cyber Consultant, you will be at the forefront of delivering high quality information and cyber security consulting and advisory services for our external customers and internal business units by utilising your experience and networks to assist with developing new business and deliver successful outcomes.

This role ensures that governance frameworks are embedded, risks are effectively managed, and compliance obligations are consistently met.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • You will provide expert information and cyber security advice, leadership, and services to support the Engineering Services & Sustainment Team.
  • Delivery of high-quality information and cyber security consulting and advisory services for our clients to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Performing security risk management processes, maturity assessments, and gap analyses to establish Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) aligned with relevant industry standards.
  • Supporting and defining Saab’s internal project activities to help protect and improve Saab’s information security posture and competitive advantage.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with key partners, stakeholders, vendors, manufacturers and clients through successful engagements, industry events and marketing.
  • Provide expert specialist information security advice to Saab’s business units during tenders and project, and developing tender responses and customer proposals.

Taking a lead role in engagements with Saab Australia’s existing and future clients – both external and internal to Saab – across our service delivery portfolio, including:

  • Information and Cyber Security Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC)
  • Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Security Panning, Architecture, and Design
  • Security Architecture Design, Review, and Assurance Activities Across Cloud Environments
  • Information and Cyber Security Management
  • Technical Security Assessments and Testing
  • Security Culture and Awareness

About you

  • Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in developing, implementing, operating and integrating Information Security Management Systems aligned with best-practice security frameworks, policies and standards.
  • Thorough knowledge and in-depth understanding of the Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge, and extensive experience in security planning, design, and implementation for cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
  • Thorough working knowledge and extensive experience in the end-to-end security project life cycle – defining security requirements, high level architecture, detailed design & implementation
  • Sound understanding of assessment and authorisation processes, security auditing, and assessment and assurance activities such as IRAP Assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience across various information security domains and technologies with industry certifications including: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC and ISO 27001 Lead Implementer / Auditor.


As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
