As a Senior Credit Risk Officer you will advise on credit requests related to corporate lending and trade finance transactions on a sector/product-agnostic basis. Furthermore, you will take responsibility for monitoring of the existing book at obligor or sub sector/product portfolio level and may act as the first point of contact for Front Office colleagues, regarding a particular corporate subsector and/or product.

The team consists of 10 FTE. Your position will be based in Amsterdam and you will report to the team lead.
The Transaction Approval & Control (‘TA&C’) department within the Wholesale Bank Risk domain is responsible for the analysis, advice and decision making of transactions for our clients. This is done by risk managers (SCO’s and Credit officers) who have a thorough understanding of credit structuring, credit risk ,businesses & markets, and ESG related risks. In addition to the asset-by-asset approval process, the risk managers are responsible for portfolio monitoring and advising senior management on strategic direction in terms of risk appetite and portfolio steering. Our Amsterdam department employs ~77 persons and is organized in 6 teams; Corporate Sector Coverage, Infra, Transaction Services and Business Control; Energy, Transportation & Logistics; Real Estate; Commodities, Food and Agri; TMT & Healthcare, Acquisition Finance, Corporate Investments & Asset Securitization, Environmental & Social Responsibility
Roles and responsibilities
You will be advising and managing of client transactions from originating to closing from a credit risk perspective.
You safeguard the risk appetite of the bank and are a credit structuring expert who exhibits a deep and specialized knowledge on the relevant sectors, markets and/or products.
You cover all aspects of credit risk management, different CSL sub-sectors (retail; construction, services, chemicals, heavy machinery) and other portfolios and products (a.o. supply chain finance, BMG, cards).
You will be involved in projects covering sector analysis, reporting, climate change and other initiatives that enhance the credit risk management function of ING.
You will advise on new transactions as well as modifications of existing transaction and act as 1st point of contact for FO teams with whom we expect that you will maintain a strong relationship.
You will manage (part of) the portfolio and handle risk ratings, annual reviews, and watch-listed files.
You will ensure the quality and (policy) consistency of credit applications and anything else submitted in our systems.
You are strongly encouraged to support department wide projects to make our Risk role more effective and efficient.

Must have at least 7 years of experience and seniority in the field of Corporate and Wholesale banking transactions.
A background and experience with Credit Risk Policies and Lending Procedures as well as different ING Products is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of Trade Finance and Cash Management is a plus.
Strong social skills, an understanding of internal governance and good stakeholder management capabilities.
Must have demonstrable experience at senior level with credit structuring skills and sufficient experience in legal documentation.
Good communication skills (verbal and in writing), and fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
An independent thinker, not afraid to provide a different point of view and open to the exchange and bringing forward of ideas.
Willingness to invest in (sub)sector and product knowledge and improvement of processes, and ability to link this expertise to current trends and credit risk monitoring developments.
An academic background in Finance, Business or Economics.
Strong data management skills.
