Job Overview
Oversee one or more creative design teams including overseeing quality control, ensuring deadlines are met, and coordinating release of projects as necessary. You will establish internal project goals, review employee schedules, assign projects, manage resources, and distribute detailed project schedules.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and manage the distribution of work based upon review of project requirements and designer skills and strengths while monitoring budgets and coordinating project schedules.
- Estimate graphic design hours for budgets, and ensure project team(s) deliver projects in accordance with budgeted hours and agreed timelines communicating variances to timelines/budgeted specs to account managers where appropriate.
- Contribute to account/new business development and assisting in the development of proposals. Liaise between stakeholders and designers to ensure a complete dissemination of project details and expectations have been provided. Use innovative and creative methods to redefine a creative brief and meet the constraints of cost, time, and client.
- Act as a quality assurance and control by providing final approval for all graphic layouts developed, confirming that they meet or exceed the project requirements. Review final design layouts, suggest improvements as needed, and ensure files are properly set up for production release.
- Create high-impact designs to engage, attract, and sell. Development of concepts/sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts. Ensure consistency of page layout/design across all designated project materials, ensuring house/client styles are adhered to as appropriate.
- Assist in the development of new and innovative creative strategies that help achieve project goals and meet stakeholder’s expectations.
- Provide creative advice/consultancy in areas of expertise attending and proactively contributing to project status/priorities meetings. Provide advice and creative/technical assistance to the development of materials to ensure viable, cost-effective, and high-quality designs and templates.
- Develop or acquire the images used in a variety of creative projects, including advertisements, brochures, printed materials, corporate and brand identity, promotional displays, packaging, and signage. Integrate typographic, photographic, illustrative, and other elements into design layouts.
- Ensure graphic files, layouts, and projects are archived effectively on a regular basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Field related to art or graphic design Req
- 5+ years experience as a graphic designer with one year as a team supervisor Req Or
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience Req
- Strong leadership, project management, and time management skills. Excellent coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to supervise and delegate effectively.
- Cross-platform experience (MAC/PC).
- Experience using current Adobe Suite applications (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator), Acrobat, Quark, Suitcase Fusion.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Internet).
- Extensive creative design experience across a wide range of accounts, including publication planning programmes, symposium and exhibition materials, new business proposals and promotional materials, for a range of audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of the medical communications industry.
- Ability to monitor team outputs, ensuring all designed materials meet client communication objectives.
- Knowledge of creative processes, including advertising, promotional, printing, and production methods. Full understanding of current print/production procedures and timelines.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
