The role...

Senior Counsel is responsible for providing legal support to the Commercial, Business Development, Global Operations, IT, Finance, and HR functions to support business growth and innovation. This position will report directly to the General Counsel.

You'll have the opportunity to...

Core Responsibilities (90%):

  • Independently draft, review, and negotiate complex global commercial agreements.
  • Advise stakeholders on contractual matters and efficiently work with the business to manage risk and resolve contractual issues.
  • Collaboratively and proactively build strong cross-functional working relationships.
  • Remain current on applicable laws, regulations, and developments relevant to the business.
  • Other functions and responsibilities as determined by the needs of the business.

Additional Responsibilities (10%):

  • Continuous Improvement – streamline commercial agreements and help to build legal forms library.
  • Training and Development – continuing legal education (webinar and/or in person).
  • Legal onboarding – conduct new hire legal trainings.

Who you are and what you bring to the team...

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Licensed in good standing to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Successful track record of at least 7 years of legal experience as a licensed U.S. attorney, through a combination of major law firm and in-house experience.
  • Demonstrable experience managing customer, procurement, and vendor transactions.
  • Ascertainable hands-on experience in negotiating and drafting agreements.
  • Life sciences (pharmaceutical or biotechnology) industry, whether in-house, at a law firm, or at a regulatory agency—or in combination.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets), MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Extremely adept and confident in hands-on solo negotiating and drafting of complex agreements.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic fast paced and high-volume environment.
  • Effective listener and relationship-builder with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities with the ability to be flexible in approach.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills and comfortable handling risk management issues.
  • Attention to both detail and nuance with the ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve key issues, coordinate demands from multiple stakeholders, and communicate across business units.
  • Very positive and approachable demeanor with a strong stakeholder focus and a dynamic and result-oriented disposition.
  • Unquestionable integrity and judgment.

Physical Conditions/Physical Requirements...

  • Work environment is typically quiet with some background noise.
  • Ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods.
  • Dexterity to operate computer equipment, handle documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed documents and reports.
  • Occasional standing and walking will be required to move around the office or facility.
  • Infrequent lifting of light objects, such as files or equipment, up to 15 pounds, may also be necessary.

This position has a starting base salary range of $185,000 to $225,000 per year, which the company, in good faith, reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
