About the Team
The Large Enterprise & Industries Go-To-Market (GTM) Legal Team supports Workday’s sales organization to service our most complex customers. We partner with the broader Workday legal team and other cross-functional teams to drive growth, improve customer experience, and scale with the growth of the broader business we support.About the Role
This Senior Counsel will be a part of a team of GTM attorneys supporting a highly valued and rapidly growing business function focused on renewal and expansion transactions for Workday’s largest and most strategic customers, as well as new transactions with some of our largest prospective customers. This lawyer’s primary responsibility will be to support multiple sales teams while partnering effectively with deals management, sales operations, services, product, finance, and contract operations. We are seeking an outstanding lawyer who can balance multiple responsibilities and tasks in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional judgment and business insight and be comfortable, effective, and persuasive in dealing with customers, partners, senior management, and business and legal partners.
Responsibilities:
Lead and drive valuable Large Enterprise & Industries transactions, which will include negotiation with prospects and customers, as well as support our professional services and customer success agreements, assignments, amendments, and add on transactions.
Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal teams regarding business and legal issues and risks and support our sales team with bringing deals to a timely close.
Continually challenge current practices (internal and external), identifying areas for improvement and championing efforts to enhance operational and commercial efficiency, including by embracing everyday AI-facilitated solutions
Help build and improve contract templates and negotiation playbooks and provide internal training for sales, services operations, contract operations, and the broader GTM legal team on how we can create a streamlined contract experience.
Partner effectively with deal operations, sales, finance, revenue recognition, product legal, privacy, security, and contracts operations, as well as managing external legal counsel as required.
Support other key or strategic growth initiatives which further the business requirements of a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company.
About You
Required Qualifications:
J.D. Degree and membership in at least 1 U.S. State bar
7+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house/public sector legal department
Specific experience supporting and negotiating customer-facing transactions, preferably with enterprise software/SaaS experience
Other Qualifications:
Exceptional contract negotiation and drafting skills, comfortable and adept at teaming with leadership in fast paced customer facing transactions

Ability to influence, advise, and advocate for the business’ interests.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, enabling effective communication with legal and non-legal audiences at all organizational levels.

Cultivates internal and external relationships and leads project collaboration with cross-functional networks.
Collaborative, team-oriented player with a greater good mindset. Ability to manage a high volume of transactions simultaneously
Consistently applies strategic focus, critical thinking and problem solving by appropriately weighing legal risks and business objectives.
Anticipates, identifies and analyzes legal risks and exercises sound judgment and effective techniques to drive solutions without guidance.
Willingness and aptitude to learn and utilize new technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in legal tasks such as contract review, legal research, and process improvement.
