Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and agile Controls and Automation Engineer to join our engineering team at the Kansas City Plant. The Controls and Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems and automation solutions for the development and qualification of a new manufacturing platform. This position requires a strong understanding of control theory, automation technologies, and the ability to integrate intelligent systems to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control System Design: Develop and implement control strategies for manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Automation Development: Design and program automation solutions using PLCs, SCADA systems, and other control technologies to streamline operations and improve productivity.
  • Intelligent Systems Integration: Implement advanced data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and AI-driven solutions to enhance process control and decision-making.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and maintenance, to identify automation opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • System Optimization: Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting of existing control systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Documentation and Training: Prepare technical documentation, including system specifications and user manuals. Provide training and support to plant personnel on new systems and technologies.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all automation systems comply with industry standards and regulations, promoting a culture of safety in all engineering practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field; 5+ years of experience in controls and automation systems.
  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency in control and automation technologies, including Continuous and Batch Process Control, Instrumentation, Control Logix PLCs, SCADA systems, Motion Control, Vision Systems, Networks, Drives, Sensors, Server/Computing (including Virtualization Technologies), and compliance with applicable Electrical Design Codes. Knowledge of Electrical Safety and Machine Safety requirements. Familiarity with programming standards.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Familiarity with manufacturing tools and methodologies, change control, validation protocols, and managing multiple priorities to deliver results in a dynamic production environment.
  • Discipline & Safety: Ability to operate with discipline, maintaining rigorous systems and standards. Practice electrical safety and machine safety.
  • Language: Fluent in English.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Capable of setting priorities, developing effective plans, and providing coaching. Effective communication skills to align team leadership and coordinate efforts. Ability to work independently and effectively
