The job
AVEVA’s Simulation & Learning team delivers simulation solutions for customers across the chemical, energy, sustainability, and oil & gas industries. Our Control Emulations offering (SCP and TRISIM) enables customers to build a Digital Twin—virtual replicas of real plant control systems—for validation, troubleshooting, and training. These systems include DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) used to operate and protect industrial facilities.
This mid-to-senior role blends customer technical support (60%) and QA testing (40%). You will own complex issues end-to-end, partner with Engineering and Product, and improve quality by turning real-world customer scenarios into repeatable test coverage.
Key responsibilities
- Customer Technical Support (approx. 60%)
Lead technical investigations with customers to gather requirements, logs, configuration details, and reproduction steps
Recreate customer environments and scenarios using local VM/server and Azure (cloud) setups to isolate root cause
Drive issues to resolution by coordinating across internal teams (Engineering, Product, QA), providing clear technical summaries, priority/severity assessments, and customer-ready updates
- QA and Quality Enablement (approx. 40%)
Design and execute test plans for Control Emulation software (SCP and TRISIM), with emphasis on real-world configurations and regressions
Develop and maintain test cases and test suites for local VM/server and Azure (cloud) environments
Maintain and improve test environments (local and cloud), including reliability, repeatability, and data managemen
Essential requirements
BS degree in Engineering, or related field
Strong hands-on experience with DCS and/or SIS systems (configuration and implementation)
Solid understanding of Windows networked systems (workstations, servers, switches) and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, engineering teams, and senior leadership, including writing high-quality technical summaries
Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple investigations in parallel
Desired skills and competencies
Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure products (Foxboro DCS, Triconex SIS, and/or Automation Expert (EAE))
Experience with Control Emulation products (SCP and TRISIM)
Experience with AVEVA Dynamic Simulation software
Ability to build and maintain AVEVA Dynamic Simulation models
Knowledge of AVEVA System Platform, including InTouch/OMI
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps Test Plans/Test Manager
Test automation framework experience (designing and implementing automated tests)
Programming skills in C++ and/or C#
