What you’ll be doing

As part of the Chief Data Office (CDO) Transformation, Training & Partnerships team, you’ll help shape and execute training initiatives that drive measurable value to our data communities and beyond. The Senior Consultant, Data, Training & Partnerships, reports directly to the Director, Education, Training & Partnerships. This role is pivotal in enabling CIBC’s data fluency journey by equipping team members with the training and resources needed to build the knowledge, skills and capabilities required to excel in a data-driven environment. This integral role primarily supports the delivery of key data role training to our data communities, as well as providing training consultation and support across all EDRMO teams within the CDO.  You will lead a full range of business management activities to support the dynamic business of the CDO. It is a highly collaborative role that requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and critical thinking. It is an excellent opportunity to work with leaders across CIBC and with the CDO Senior Leadership Team.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Data Fluency Assessment and Training Strategy- Drive the data fluency and maturity assessment across all Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Functional Groups (FGs), identifying skill gaps and shaping future data training strategies in alignment with CIBC’s Data Governance Target Operating Model (DG TOM) and Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) policy.

  • Partnership Management and Training Execution- Manage internal and external partnerships that offer training and certification to data related roles within the organization with end-to-end execution of targeted workshops and events.  For example, the EDM Association, and coordinating the annual in-person DCAM certification workshop exclusive for CIBC colleagues. Liaise with internal partners (e.g., Talent Development) to ensure the data role learner journey is defined and supported.

  • Consultation and Support for Emerging Data Needs- Provide consultation and solutions for the emerging needs of the CDO and its data community, including spokes and affiliates (such as planning, touchpoints, training content sharing, assessments, ad hoc training, or on-the-job performance support surveys).

  • Training Strategy Development- Support the development and continuous iterations of the training strategy for the Chief Data Office to address current and future enterprise data training requirements.

  • Learning Resource Development- Create and maintain ongoing learning resources, such as Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) sections, guidance materials and learning packages, to promote knowledge sharing and adoption across data roles and beyond.

  • Advanced Data Training and Certification- Champion and support tracking efforts for advanced data training within the CDO. Deliver Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) training and certification sessions, which are centrally organized, enterprise-wide private CIBC events offered annually, managing the process from contract finalization to execution of the events.

  • Business Management Operations and Audit Management - Assist in managing internal and external audit responses and support the remediation of regulatory findings as needed.  Lead the annual review process for maintaining our team’s Operating Procedures, including updates or revisions to existing procedures, or creation of new operating procedures as needed along with supporting the creation, adoption and maintenance of the CDO Transformation Playbook.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting - You will be responsible for collecting, integrating, and analyzing data from multiple sources to produce comprehensive summary reports tailored to specific business needs (e.g. Training completion reporting and KRI/metrics for governance councils).  You will manage and reconcile disparate datasets, apply advanced data segmentation and filtering techniques, and deliver actionable insights to various stakeholders

Who you are

  • Analytical- You give meaning to data and communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.

  • Goal driven- You’re motivated by accomplishing your goals and delivering your best to make a difference.

  • Collaborative- You know that teamwork can transform a good idea into a great one, and you thrive in diverse, inclusive teams.

  • Relationship builder- You connect with others through respect and authenticity, building strong networks across the organization.

  • Detail oriented- You notice what others don’t, using your critical thinking skills to inform decisions.

  • Technical skills- You have demonstrated experience in data analytics, business reporting, and supporting data strategy. Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel). Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and training data would be an asset.

  • Values matter to you- You bring your real self to work and you live our values—trust, teamwork, and accountability.
