What you'll be doing 

 

Join our Enterprise Data Management team as a Senior Consultant, Data Developer, where you'll play a key role in shaping the data architecture that drives CIBC's business decisions. As a Senior Data Developer, you'll design and implement efficient data models, ensuring our data infrastructure supports scalable analytics and reporting solutions. You'll leverage Databricks and advanced programming languages to transform raw data into actionable insights for business units across the organization. Your expertise will help optimize our data management capabilities, enabling teams to make informed, data-driven decisions. You'll work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions, all while maintaining high standards for code quality and performance.

How you'll succeed 

  • Data Modelling & Architecture - Design and implement efficient data models that align with business requirements and support analytics and reporting needs.

  • Databricks Development - Build and optimize data transformation logic using Python, SQL, and Scala within Databricks, ensuring data quality and integrity.

  • Code Development & Maintenance - Write clean, well-documented, and production-ready code in Python, PowerShell, and other relevant languages, maintaining version control and robust testing practices.

  • Performance Optimization - Optimize data schemas and workflows for scalability and high performance across large datasets.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement - Work closely with business units to gather requirements and deliver solutions that empower data-driven decision-making. 

 

Who you are 

  • You have extensive technical expertise. You bring 5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Scala, and PowerShell, and are comfortable developing in Databricks. You’re a data architecture specialist. You have a strong background in designing and implementing data models, including dimensional and fact table structures, for analytics and reporting. 

  • You’re detail-oriented and quality-driven. You ensure code is clean, well-documented, and rigorously tested, with robust validation frameworks in place. 

  • You’re collaborative and client-focused. You work effectively with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
