Aurecon Group

Senior Consultant, Asset Management and Performance

Melbourne Full time

Want to bring your consulting skills into engineering and asset management?

At Aurecon, we’re an Australian-owned design, engineering and advisory company with a proud history of helping clients manage their assets across the full lifecycle. With strong growth across Australia, we’re seeking a Consultant to join our national Asset Management Advisory team.

This is an opportunity to apply structured problem solving and technical analysis to some of the most complex decision-making challenges facing asset-intensive organisations – from infrastructure and utilities to energy and industry. You’ll work alongside our eminent engineers, combining rigorous analysis with practical consulting skills to help clients make better decisions about their assets.

How you’ll make an impact

You’ll work with both public and private sector clients, contributing to projects that drive operational excellence and sustainable outcomes. You’ll lead packages of work within larger multi-disciplinary projects, taking ownership of your workstream from analysis through to recommendations – and building the client relationships that go with it.

Your work will include:

  • Leading or being a critical team member for delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating inputs across technical disciplines and delivering clear, evidence-based outputs.
  • Applying structured analytical approaches to support complex decision making for asset-intensive organisations – investment prioritisation, performance improvement, risk and reliability.
  • Translating technical data and insights into clear advice and practical decisions for clients.
  • Contributing to solutions in areas such as asset management strategies, performance improvement, system design and asset condition assessments.
  • Working alongside Aurecon’s engineers and technical specialists, bridging the gap between deep technical expertise and client-facing consulting outcomes.

What you’ll bring:

  • A degree in Engineering, Science, Technology or a related discipline – or equivalent experience that gives you a technical lens on problems.
  • Around 3–5 years of experience in consulting, engineering, operations or a technical advisory role.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to turn insights into outcomes.
  • The ability to work with data – interpreting outputs, identifying patterns and turning analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Financial and commercial acumen, or a demonstrated interest in developing it quickly – industry experience in this area is highly regarded.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and the confidence to lead your own workstreams while drawing on the expertise around you.
  • Comfort working on site and a willingness to travel occasionally for project work – our clients operate real assets in real places, and getting on the ground is part of how we do our best work.

Nice to have:

  • Software literacy – comfortable writing basic Python for data analysis, or able to pick up new tools and software quickly to deliver project work more efficiently.

Experience in areas such as strategy, operations, asset performance, or sustainability (including decarbonisation) will be highly regarded, but not essential. We’re more interested in how you think than in ticking specific boxes.

Why join us?

  • Impact – help organisations make informed, long-term decisions that shape the future of communities and industries.
  • Depth – work shoulder-to-shoulder with some of Australia’s most experienced engineers and advisors.
  • Growth – develop both technical and consulting skills, with opportunities to move into client engagement and business development.
  • Culture – join an inclusive team where your voice will be heard, and where we’re recognised for gender equality, innovation and diversity.
  • Australian pride – work for a privately owned business with a global outlook and a strong local footprint.
