Job Title: Senior Compliance Engineer
Department & Team: Product Security & GRC
Reports to: Alex Collins
Location: Hungary (Virtual Office)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Engineer to join our GRC Operations team, focusing on automating compliance processes, implementing policy-as-code solutions, and leveraging AI technologies to modernize our governance, risk, and compliance operations. This role combines deep compliance and security domain expertise with technical implementation skills to build and maintain internal GRC services, automate evidence collection workflows, and enhance our compliance assurance capabilities. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in transforming manual compliance processes into automated, scalable solutions while working in an agile environment.
This role emphasizes hands-on development work, with candidates who have prior security or compliance domain experience having a distinct advantage. While technical implementation is primary, understanding compliance requirements and control frameworks is essential for success. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues based in Ireland, with the wider team distributed across Ireland, Hungary, the United States, and Canada.
Genesys is changing how businesses communicate with their customers using a micro-service architecture hosted in AWS. GRC Operations handles the operational execution of governance, risk, and compliance activities, including control testing and effectiveness evaluation, automated evidence collection and management for internal and external audits, and maintaining comprehensive compliance documentation for over 20 regulatory accreditations and certifications. Our engineering team builds and maintains automation systems that transform manual compliance processes into scalable, automated workflows, enabling the team to demonstrate compliance to auditors, senior management and customers efficiently while reducing operational overhead.
Compliance Process Automation & Evidence Management
Lead the design and implementation of automated evidence collection systems that reduce manual effort and improve audit readiness. Build and maintain compliance evidence automation services that collect data from external APIs, transform it, and store it securely for audit purposes. Develop automated compliance monitoring and enforcement systems that detect violations, trigger notifications, and enforce remediation workflows including automated ticket creation and deployment blocking capabilities. Identify opportunities to automate manual compliance activities and implement solutions that enhance efficiency while maintaining regulatory compliance standards.
Policy-as-Code Implementation
Develop and maintain policy-as-code solutions that codify compliance requirements and enable automated validation of controls. Translate regulatory requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS) into executable policies and integrate them into our service deployment and monitoring workflows. Ensure policies remain current with evolving regulatory landscapes and organizational requirements.
AI-Enhanced Compliance Operations
Contribute to AI compliance initiatives including knowledge management systems and assistance tools. Explore and evaluate agentic AI architectures and multi-agent systems for automating complex compliance workflows and orchestration tasks. Leverage AWS Bedrock and AI-assisted development tools to streamline compliance documentation retrieval, automate responses to compliance queries, and improve knowledge accessibility across the organization, ensuring a high level of accuracy and citation is provided.
Compliance Framework Expertise & Requirements Analysis
Apply deep understanding of security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR) to analyze requirements, identify control gaps, and design solutions that meet audit requirements. Collaborate with internal compliance teams, external assessors, and compliance stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical implementations. Ensure all automated solutions maintain comprehensive audit trails and meet regulatory evidence requirements.
Technical Implementation & Integration
Develop and maintain integrations between tools and our automated services. Build and maintain internal GRC services that support compliance operations and workflows. Work with AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Bedrock, etc) to build scalable compliance automation solutions. Write code for data transformations and workflow orchestration while maintaining security best practices.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
Create and maintain documentation for all automated processes, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational continuity. Contribute to centralized knowledge management system development to ensure compliance information remains accessible and current.
Project Management & Stakeholder Collaboration
Own the management of automation projects within Jira and other workflow automation tools, ensuring proper tracking, prioritization, and delivery of initiatives. Collaborate with stakeholders across the Security and Compliance organization, including GRC Operations team members, platform engineering teams, and security architects to gather requirements and translate compliance needs into technical solutions.
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of professional experience in compliance engineering, security engineering, or software development
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles and AWS services (Lambda, S3, Step Functions, IAM)
• Python programming skills with experience in automation and integration development
• Demonstrated ability to translate compliance requirements into technical implementations
• Experience with policy-as-code approaches or infrastructure-as-code
• Demonstrated experience with audit operations or control implementation
