Job Description:

Are you a communications professional with a flair for creative and visual storytelling? If so, this role is for you. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications, you are a key member of the team responsible for supporting Sun Life’s corporate communications activities that support the CEO and build and enhance Sun Life’s brand.

This portfolio includes CEO communications, content development for the company’s Annual Report and Annual Meeting, visual and content development for corporate and executive events, as well as developing materials for communications related to our Enterprise Strategy and focus on Clients.

*** This is a 14-month fixed term role. ***

What will you do?

  • Provide communications support for corporate projects including our Annual Report, Annual Meeting, and corporate disclosure activities – working with internal business partners (brand, legal, finance, graphic services) as well as external vendors.

  • Provide communications support for the CEO taking business content and strategies and using multi-media channels to engage key audience groups through visual story-telling. Play a role in supporting strategy development.

  • Provide communications and project management support for internal executive meetings. Work with internal business partners and external vendors, may involve integrating content and key messages with the visual representation of event themes, presentation design, and overall project management for the event.

  • Provide support for executive communications, including internal events like global Town Halls and coffee chats, along with global employee messages tied to company strategy and business priorities /projects.

  • Manage development and internal distribution of company messages through our global email platform and the company’s intranet.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Degree or diploma in journalism, communications or public relations and 5 years' experience working in public relations, communications or a related field

  • Depth of knowledge using Adobe suite of products, internal video production and editing platforms, social media and email distribution platforms

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including communications planning, editing, proof reading and attention to detail

  • Strong visual communications skills, including experience creating tactics using digital, video, social media, and other technology platforms

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage communications materials and meet tight deadlines

  • Intermediate consulting skills and problem solving, working with internal partners and external vendors

  • Strong technical knowledge and aptitude to quickly learn new systems, software and programs

Special notes:

  • Flexibility to work on communications activities outside of regular business hours is required on occasion

Assets:

  • Experience with HTML, content management systems, media monitoring systems, and online collaboration platforms

  • Previous financial services experience / understanding of the financial services industry

  • Experience working for a public company and/or supporting executive communications

  • Working knowledge and/or fluent in French

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
