Mission Summary:

The Commercial Operations Project Manager is pivotal in driving the business forward by strategizing and executing plans to achieve project objectives efficiently. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, this role orchestrates seamless communication with stakeholders across the spectrum to ensure alignment toward the overarching goals of advancing autonomous driving technology and its commercial viability. This role is instrumental in identifying operational imperatives crucial for successful commercial initiatives, harmonizing priorities across multidisciplinary teams, and rigorously adhering to timelines. Emphasizing commercialization, revenue generation, product enhancement, you will drive efficiency by introducing new tools and technologies while aligning cost-efficiency initiatives with Motional’s values and commitment to a driverless future.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead short and long-term projects within the Commercial Operations organization with minimal guidance
  • Define operational requirements for driverless launch initiatives and commercialization projects 
  • Define, track, and deliver key operational programs with measurable outcomes aligned to company OKRs and company milestones
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and key project participants
  • Facilitate and encourage collaboration across departments to ensure projects are completed successfully
  • Anticipate risks and dependencies, proactively remove roadblocks, and ensure high-impact initiatives are executed with discipline and accountability
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and proactively monitor risks throughout the project lifespan
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to enable informed decision-making and track commercial KPIs
  • Support local marketing efforts, including tours, filming, and community engagement
  • Track and manage commercial fleet costs and efficiencies
  • Facilitate senior leadership decision-making through data-driven reporting, structured governance, and clear communication of project progress, risks, and interdependencies

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in business, science, engineering, or technology-related field
  • 3+ years project management in leading complex projects in engineering or commercial operations
  • Strong track record of fostering cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to build trust and influence across departments and senior leadership levels 
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with program management and visualization tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, Tableau, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G-Suite applications, with the ability to use both qualitative and quantitative insights to guide decision-making
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking, executive engagement, and the ability to unify teams around common goals 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining clarity, focus, and team alignment
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time. 

Preferred Experience & Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, balancing strategic planning with tactical execution.
  • Experience supporting commercialization or large-scale operational rollouts.
  • High integrity, adaptability, and emotional intelligence when working across senior leadership and technical teams.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

This role requires the ability to interface with both office and field environments. While primarily office-based, the Commercial Operations Project Manager may be present at test facilities, requiring the ability to safely operate and ride in autonomous vehicles, oversee vehicle inspections, and engage in field operations as needed. This role is based in our Las Vegas office and requires in-office days each week.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs.
