Flight Itinerary (About The Role)

We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team and develop software systems and automated solutions for provisioning and maintaining the infrastructure. The Cloud Platforms Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the automated infrastructure for our cloud platforms. This includes provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of cloud resources using Terraform.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in public cloud infrastructure, proficient in AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). They will also have a strong background in DevOps practices, such as CI/CD and automation.The responsibilities include monitoring computer systems and building alerts for various operational issues that computer systems and services can experience. At FLYR, this will entail various pipeline services such as, but not limited to data ingestion, machine learning, web applications, etc. You will work with our engineering teams to ensure our organization can continue to deliver products and services in our cloud infrastructure environment using concepts like Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

What Your Journey Will Look Like (Responsibilities)

  • Collaborate with Software Development teams, Product Managers, and Business Owners to ensure smooth deployment and operation of systems.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large and small-scale systems.
  • Automate tools to monitor system health and reliability to support business process requirements.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure costs, implementing FinOps best practices to ensure efficient resource utilization without compromising performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
  • Communicate status and risks to the product teams.
  • Help automate and streamline operations and processes.
  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations.

What To Pack For This Trip (Qualifications)

  • Minimum 6+ years of Cloud Engineer working experience.
  • Proficiency in AWS and/or GCP. Candidates should be comfortable working in a multi-cloud environment or migrating workloads between providers.
  • Significant experience writing Hashicorp Terraform configurations and modules for enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience (preferably with GitHub Actions) for building and managing CI/CD pipelines and repositories.
  • Experience in DevOps and GitOps models with infra-as-code, config-as-code, policy-as-code, etc.
  • Proficient in translating designs into fully developed Terraform code.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud security.
  • Experience in enterprise-scale environments, building highly available IaaS and PaaS solutions.
  • Experience with Cloud Cost Management (FinOps) and resource optimization strategies.
  • Understanding of landing zones, cloud-native security, monitoring and logging tools, and Well-Architected Framework principles.
  • Experience with containers related technologies – Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/GKE), Helm, etc.
  • Experience in programming and infra-automation tools – Terraform, Python, etc. Experience with .NET is a plus.
  • Experience in Cloud logging, monitoring, and observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Google Cloud Operations, Datadog).
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (i.e. Bash, Python).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a global team.
