The Senior Catering Cook plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional catering services within a corporate healthcare environment. This position supports the Cook Lead and provides leadership in their absence, ensuring seamless operations for events that serve Corewell Health’s leadership teams—including system executives, department meetings, and high-visibility events with community members and donors. As a Sr. Cook, you'll be responsible for menu development and play a vital role in the preparation and execution of hot and cold meals. Assists with all aspects of kitchen operations, food preparation, and service for high-profile events.
Acts as the kitchen lead in the absence of the Cook Lead, overseeing staff and daily operations.
Maintains strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
Coordinates with event teams to ensure smooth service and presentation.
Assists in training and mentoring team members, fostering a culture of professionalism and excellence.
Communicates effectively with team members, event leads, and management.
Models Corewell Health's mission, vision and values in all interactions.
Ensures compliance with all organizational policies, including safety and confidentiality
Demonstrates professionalism and attention to detail suitable for executive and community-facing events.
Assumes total responsibility for all food production in absence of the Supervisor.
Organizes and directs the preparation of complex recipes.
Assists in planning and documenting menus for all areas of the Nutrition Services department.
Ensures daily production schedule is completed and adhered to.
Assists in training, orientation and evaluation of employees.
Prepares purchase order for the buyer, as appropriate.
Develops new recipes.
Assists supervisor in overseeing areas of operations assigned. Monitors employees to ensure policies/procedures are being adhered to. Addresses employees not following job requirements or proper policy/procedures.
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
5 years of relevant experience in related field
CRT-Accredited Food Protection Manager, CFP - ANSI National Accreditation Board ANSI National Accreditation Board 90 Days
Preferred
Vocational/Technical courses in food preparation
2 years of relevant experience food preparation in a health care facility
1 year of relevant experience supervisory
