What you will be doing:

  • Coordinate, prepare and perform diesel engine development, calibration and engineering support work in an engine dynamometer test cell and if necessary, in the field.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and perform the testing of prototype engines, engine components and after treatment systems by working with test cell operators and other supporting departments to execute tests and development programs.
  • Develop, analyze and evaluate unique engineering solutions with consideration of factors such as system effectiveness, reliability, configuration, emission regulations, customer requirements and cost.
  • Conduct tests and use analytical tools such as DoE and modeling to optimize calibration parameters.
  • Coordinate, prepare and carry out engine emissions certification processes including test cell preparation, test execution, data analysis and report generation according to regulatory and company standards
  • Document the preparation, execution and analysis of tasks performed according to highest engineering standards and remain technically current.
  • Coordinate, prepare and carry out functional performance and component tests.
  • Support the validation and release of calibrations into production.
  • Develop technically reasonable and feasible alternatives with regards to time and money for challenges occurring during the progress of the project.
  • Use and constantly optimize project management procedures including commonly known and individually created program management, tracking and forecasting tools.
  • Provide field support for After Sales and Applications departments whenever complex issues require engineering support.
  • Provide support for production and train production staff whenever complex issues require engineering support.
  • Communicate and consult with Engineering and Design departments worldwide.
  • Manage, track and communicate project status and assist in managing project budget and project forecast.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers, allowing them to learn from your experiences.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Promote a compliance culture and live the latter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and minimum of 5 years of experience calibrating and testing combustion engines or 9 years of experience calibrating and testing combustion engines.
  • Ability to travel - domestic and international
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including night shifts and weekends

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
  • Experience with ETAS INCA, AVL CAMEO and AVL PUMA
  • Experience with AVL emissions measurement equipment
  • Experience with emissions legislation (40CFR Part1065
  • Extensive experience with diesel engine performance and emissions calibration
  • Experience with MTU applications such as Power Generation, Marine, Oil and Gas, Mining and Ra
  • Strong knowledge of engine control units and their operation
  • Extensive experience with engine-specific instrumentation, data acquisition systems, signal processing and data management
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities and the ability to balance the application of academic theory and engineering judgment
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to adapt to new circumstances quickly
