A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Senior Buyer at MKS Instruments, you will partner with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to manage the full procurement cycle for strategic sourcing, ensuring quality, competitive cost, and continuity of supply. In this role, you will report to the Procurement Manager.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
Developing and executing sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
Managing supplier relationships, including performance evaluations and improvement plans.
Analyzing market trends and proposing cost-reduction and supplier consolidation initiatives.
Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with planning teams to prevent shortages or excess.
Ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulations, and quality standards.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10–20% travel required (supplier visits and plant audits).
Skills You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in strategic procurement or supply chain management.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP or Oracle).
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Preferred certification: CPIM/APICS.
Strong negotiation, cost analysis, and contract management experience.
Advanced English (required).
Preferred Skills (Optional):
Experience managing global projects.
Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Fluency in a third language (e.g., French).
Supervisory Scope (Optional)
Reporting Relationships: May supervise junior buyers on specific projects.
Financial Responsibilities: Budget control for assigned purchasing categories.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Primarily office-based work with frequent computer use (typing, reviewing documents). Ability to sit for extended periods.
Working Conditions: Professional environment with occasional exposure to production areas during audits or supplier visits. Requires frequent digital and phone communication.
