We are seeking a Senior Buyer for Machinery & Equipment – Central Purchasing. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic and operational procurement of defined sub-products within machinery and equipment.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Ensure cost, quality, and delivery of all equipment and services required for specific programs and plants, in line with company expectations and financial objectives.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies.
  • Design an optimal supply base.
  • Achieve or exceed profit plan objectives related to respective sub-products, including: Cost reduction, Supplier rationalization, Working capital improvement, Other key performance indicators
  • Lead, support, and develop cost reduction initiatives with project and plant teams.
  • Structure and consolidate global and regional aspects within the product organization.
  • Define purchasing leverage across all business units and global programs.
  • Produce accurate and adequate reports on KPIs.
  • Support the implementation of global standardization.
  • Ensure compliance with BOS, PLUS, PSOS, and SOX procedures.

Main Commodity and Operational Tasks

Strategy & Alignment

  • Define and lead the commodity strategy.
  • Define supplier strategy per Commodity in alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Align the list of potential suppliers with internal stakeholders.
  • Consolidate suppliers to optimize the panel.
  • Coordinate with TM&E teams in North America and APAC.
  • Explore new markets and assess new suppliers in collaboration with Advanced Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Generate tangible and actionable strategic items for the Total Operational Model.

Negotiation & Supplier Relations

  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers (payment terms, frame contracts, etc.).
  • Support “Cash Improvement Roadmap” by checking lease options, improved payment terms, re-use strategy.
  • Manage distressed suppliers.
  • Negotiate projects submitted to the Sourcing Board.
  • Negotiate projects not related to the Sourcing Board / Change management.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Track risk ratings of M&E suppliers.
  • Maintain regular follow-ups with assigned counterparts to review ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Track Supplier Project Performance.
  • Develop and implement KPI’s.
  • Implement cost analysis tools (cost breakdowns…).

Operational Activities

  • Check & Approve purchase requests over 5K USD.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement rules & procedures BOS, PLUS, PSOS and SOX.
  • Create shopping carts for all tooling-related POs and PRs based on customer paid budget.
  • Evaluate, create and block suppliers.
  • Approve payment terms and changes.

Support & Cross-Functional Initiatives

  • Contribute to special activities (e.g., make-or-buy analysis, globalizing the supplier base).
  • Support initiatives led by other departments (e.g., collecting ISO 9001 certificates).
  • Identify and develop suppliers which will provide competitive automation technology.


Which qualifications are we looking for in potential employees?

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in purchasing or project management within the automotive industry. Strong knowledge in automation processes is a plus.
  • Excellent general technical understanding.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, tools, and practices.
  • Ability to identify and respond to urgent matters.
  • Capable of working in a multidisciplinary and team-oriented environment to achieve team and business objectives.
  • Skilled in information gathering and data analysis to prepare and lead negotiations and formulate recommendations.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory). Good knowledge of German is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus; strong Excel skills required.
  • Travel within Europe may be required for this position.
