As a Senior Buyer at Teledyne RD Instruments, you play a critical role in ensuring our manufacturing and development operations run smoothly. You are a key partner to Production, Engineering, Sales and Program Management, translating demand into reliable material supply. Your work directly supports new product introductions, operational excellence and our long-term commitment to quality, delivery and customer satisfaction. In this role, you own your commodities, influence sourcing strategy and help build a resilient, high-performing supply chain.

What you’ll do

  • Manage end-to-end procurement and planning activities to ensure material availability and on-time delivery

  • Own assigned commodities and supplier relationships, from sourcing strategy to performance management

  • Execute purchasing aligned with production schedules, inventory targets, and demand signals

  • Lead supplier selection, requests for quotation, and cost negotiations

  • Support new product introduction and research and development programs

  • Analyze demand, risks, and constraints using enterprise resource planning systems and planning tools

  • Drive continuous improvement with suppliers using delivery, quality, and cost metrics

  • Process engineering changes and maintain accurate material parameters in the enterprise system

  • Resolve material shortages, nonconforming material issues, and supply disruptions

  • Apply Lean, pull-based, and Kanban practices to optimize flow and inventory

What you need

  • Strong procurement, planning, and supplier management skills – Required

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally electronics – Highly Preferred

  • Proficiency using enterprise resource planning systems for purchasing and planning – Required

  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation and technical drawings – Required

  • Experience supporting new product introduction projects – Preferred

  • Data analysis and decision-making skills with clear written and verbal communication – Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience – Required

  • Professional supply chain certification (APICS, ISM, AME or similar) – Highly Preferred

Salary Range:

$77,900.00-$103,800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
