The Senior Buyer CH & EMEA will plan, coordinate, manage and execute medium-complexity, medium-risk sourcing and procurement events across select indirect purchasing categories and for locations in Switzerland and the EMEA region, in line with global and location-specific procurement and category strategies, business and stakeholder needs, savings, compliance and risk mitigation requirements. The role will be responsible for defining and delivering cost-effective, timely, compliant, innovative, appropriately incentive-aligned supply solutions for medium-size spend. The Senior Buyer will identify, and collaborate proactively with all relevant stakeholders, incl. requestors, Buyers and (Senior) Sourcing Leads, other subject matter experts and suppliers. In this role, the ability to establish credibility with internal stakeholders and influence them to embrace change is of high importance. It is crucial to possess a good understanding of the category-applicable local and regional supply market and to provide commercial leadership to identify opportunities for cost, supply and performance optimization. In close alignment with applicable (Senior) Sourcing Leads and Line Manager, the Senior Buyer will drive supplier performance monitoring and contract remediation activities, fulsome supply base, spend and other analysis and reporting, as well as continuously improve activities and projects. This role will report to the Head of Global Procurement Delivery.

YOUR CHALLENGE

1) CH + EMEA category sourcing and procurement

The Senior Buyer:

  • Fulsomely advises requisitioners on all relevant procurement aspects (buying channels, purchasing process, suppliers, forms, templates, minimum requirements, etc.)
  • Based on deep category strategy insights, conceives and executes adequate sourcing plans and approaches for assigned sourcing & requisitions, in alignment with requisitioners and (Senior) Sourcing Leads and seeks adequate collaboration
  • Prioritizes and advances sourcing and procurement steps appropriately - monitors them frequently, ensuring full status transparency until successful closure
  • Solicits, assesses and negotiates suitable commercial frameworks, associated pricings, KPIs and SLAs based on operational guidelines + business objectives
  • Validates and negotiates all contract legal terms & conditions for adequate risk mitigation and compliance
  • Independently executes sourcing, contracting and procurement process within the parameters pre-agreed with applicable (Senior) Sourcing Lead
  • Enables and delivers major supply cost reductions
  • Conducts advanced spend analysis, and reports cost savings and avoidance
  • Informs (Senior) Sourcing Lead and line manager of relevant procure-to-pay issues, policy and/ or sourcing process violations
  • Liaises with requesters, (Senior) Sourcing Leads, SMEs, line manager, suppliers to resolve operational and more complex procure-to-pay related queries and issues
  • Communicates and shares procurement-relevant information with team members

2) Supplier management, performance monitoring and reporting

The Senior Buyer:

  • Informs (Senior) Sourcing Lead and Line Manager of systemic supplier performance issues, supply contract/ other supplier violations, and proposes solutions
  • Identifies, pre-qualifies and collaboratively finalizes suitable sources of supply
  • Gathers, analyses, feeds back and incorporates supplier and market pricing trends
  • Fosters both operational and strategic supplier relationships. Keeps abreast of market conditions

3) Procurement operations

The Senior Buyer:

  • Conducts analysis of contracts, prior sourcing and procurements to identify possible re-sourcing priorities and presents cases to (Senior) Sourcing Lead
  • Ensures up-to-date, clear documentations, data confidentiality and integrity
  • Publishes monthly and ad-hoc analyses + reports, including activity tracking & reports
  • Collaborates with Line Manager on special projects and continuous improvement
  • Covers absences of Buyers and Spot Buyers (and, selectively, of Line Manager)

YOUR PROFILE

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Completed commercial diploma or degree in (technical) business administration, preferably in purchasing/ supply chain related subject
  • 5-7 years experience of working in sourcing, procurement and contracting roles, with hands-on commercial + contractual negotiations and requisition-to-order exposure in multiple direct spend categories within a financial institution
  • Supplier relationship management and sourcing category strategy execution experience
  • Demonstrated history of exemplary values and behaviours, including, without limitation, integrity standards, respect, due care & diligence, treating people fairly, management of confidentiality, conflicts of interest, adequate risk management, compliance with applicable laws & regulations, competence, continuous development; looks for win-wins
  • Team player who is open-minded, hands-on, action-oriented and solution-focused
  • An adaptable mindset to navigate through changes and strive during, and actively contribute to, transition, transformation and continuous improvement
  • Strong ability to prioritize and handle fluctuating demands and changing priorities

  • Vast experience and skills in pertinent Source-to-Contract/ Procure-to-Pay tools

Preferred:

  • Recognised industry professional qualification (CIPS, CPA, CIMA or similar)
  • Demonstrated active participation in a recognized procurement/ sourcing association
  • SAP SRM/ SAP MM
  • MS Tableau, or PowerBI, or dB, or programming experience is a plus
