Job Summary
As a Business Strategy Senior Specialist in the Corporate Strategy team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Telstra’s future by contributing to and executing the company’s long-term strategy. You will independently lead and drive thinking on complex workstreams, leveraging your analytical and communication skills to solve critical business problems and facilitate executive decision making. The role requires strong collaboration and relationship-building with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management and Board members, across all business units such as Consumer, Enterprise, Product & Technology, Networks, Infrastructure, and International. You will be expected to proactively identify and analyse emerging market trends, provide strategic recommendations, and manage stakeholder engagement at a high level. You apply your exceptional analytical and communication skills to solve complex business problems, including facilitating decision making around strategic priorities.
Your ability to spot and analyse new and emerging market trends allows you to be a key contributor in solving critical business issues at Telstra.
The Corporate Strategy team is a centralised strategy function, meaning you will have the opportunity to work on topics than span all parts of our business, including Telstra Consumer, Telstra Business, Telstra Enterprise, Product & Technology, Networks, Infrastructure and/or Telstra International. You will also work on a wide breadth of strategic project types and have exposure to senior management and Board content.

Solving complex problems - Actively leverage knowledge, commercial acumen, and strategic expertise to solve complex problems and provide input into decision making with the broader team to drive the development and articulation of a clear strategic direction for Telstra
Creating data-driven strategies – Utilise data and analytics to understand commercial problems, extract and communicate meaningful information, and help uncover the root cause of issues to develop data-driven strategies
Developing and articulating clear strategic direction – Drive the thinking around Telstra's long-term strategy, leveraging a breadth of knowledge to develop long term plans, formulating new strategic frameworks as needed
Analysing emerging trends and translating insights into actionable strategies – Leverage substantial expertise and experience in designing actionable business strategies to analyse new and emerging trends and evaluate their impact on Telstra’s long-term needs
Engaging and influencing key stakeholders – Collaborate with and present to multiple stakeholders, including peer group and senior executives, seeking support, direction, and buy-in to generate solutions to complex problems and/or remove organisational barriers as required.
Effectively translating and communicating key information – Prepare decision making materials for the CEO, their leadership team and the Board (e.g., papers, workshops and war games) to drive senior engagement and draw out insights to achieve Telstra’s strategic objectives.
What you’ll bring
Prior top tier management consulting and/or business unit strategy experience
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with an ability to build credibility with senior leaders and executive stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to deliver strategy projects to help frame and solve complex business problems
A strong ability to apply solid business acumen and be commercially astute (with strong financial and P&L knowledge)
Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively set direction, and drive thinking on complex projects with minimal guidance.
Experience managing and influencing cross-functional teams and leading stakeholder engagement at executive levels.
Proven capability to synthesize complex information and communicate strategic recommendations clearly to diverse audiences, including Board and senior management.
Intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to constructively challenge, ask questions, and balance different skill sets within a team.
