What you'll be doing
The Business Banking Credit Adjudication team of CIBC is accountable for reviewing, processing and approving both secured and unsecured applications. As the Sr. Business Banking Credit Risk Manager - Bilingual, you’ll work under the supervision of the Director and provide credit assessments and approval services of Business Banking credit applications within delegated limits and provide BCLASS credit structuring support and advice to frontline lenders.

How you’ll succeed
Leadership - Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing a high-performing team of adjudicators, providing focused coaching, mentorship, and guidance to foster professional growth, ensure adherence to risk and credit policies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with CIBC’s strategic objectives.
Analysis - Analyze and approve/decline/defer credit applications within the delegated authority, exercising sound judgment in the decision making process to ensure the quality of the Bank’s portfolio is maintained. As a Sr. Business Banking Credit Risk Manager you are expected to deal with Business Banking’s more complex and larger applications autonomously within your delegated lending authority.
Risk Assessment - Assess the risk of Business Banking credit applications through consideration of financial history, cash flow and other analyses within established policies and guidelines. Make credit approval/decline decisions within delegated limits; assess then refer recommendations to your leaders for accounts above delegated limits.
Make Recommendations – Recommend/negotiate alternative options on declined credit applications such as changes to the amount, structure and/or terms and conditions to arrive at an approval while maintaining a balance between customer relations and risk.
Effectively Communicate With Business Partners - Effectively communicate both the decision and rationale to assist Relationship Managers and Leaders in the frontline in explaining the Bank’s decision. Identify deteriorating accounts and take/recommend corrective action including transitioning accounts to Special Loans or Client Account Management to minimize losses.
Be a Proactive Advocate for Change both within Risk and Business Banking – In addition to their duties as an adjudicator, the Sr. Business Banking Credit Risk Manager will be responsible to lead continuous improvement initiatives within the team on policy, efficiency, learning and development, etc. They will also partner closely with the Business Banking frontline. This will generally include regular and direct contact with both Business Banking frontline and Credit Execution, as well as clients as deemed necessary. The Sr. Business Banking Credit Risk Manager may also have responsibility for representing the team on enterprise wide projects where our participation is required.

You can demonstrate experience in working with credit products, policies & processes, as well as leading and being a part of large scale projects. Working knowledge of Business Banking, legal and regulatory requirements. Exceptional credit risk knowledge and skills. Strong written & verbal communication skills.
