This role is a valuable part of our Global Engineering Project Delivery team, which supports Roche's mission to deliver innovative pharmaceutical solutions through world-class project execution. As a Project Finance Accountant, you will be instrumental in ensuring financial compliance, transparency, and accountability across complex, multi-disciplinary projects spanning Pharma Technical Operations and other divisions. Working in a dynamic, matrixed environment, you will collaborate closely with project managers, procurement teams, finance leadership, and external contractors to drive both project success and organizational financial stewardship.

The Opportunity

As a Project Finance Accountant, you will establish and maintain robust financial governance for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to Roche policies, accounting best practices, and regulatory requirements. You will serve as a key financial partner to project teams, providing strategic guidance that translates complex project requirements into clear financial controls and sustainable business results. Key responsibilities include:

  • Set up and monitor comprehensive financial accounting procedures, systems, and controls tailored to each project's scope, complexity, and compliance requirements

  • Collaborate with procurement, project management, and contractor teams to ensure accurate cost coding, transparent data flow between SAP, procurement and project management tools, and timely invoice reconciliation

  • Administer and maintain auditable project registers including bid evaluations, contracts, insurance, change orders, payment applications, and retentions to ensure financial integrity

  • Implement financial training and kick-off workshops for cross-functional project teams, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and processes to embed financial discipline from day one for projects

  • Support project close-out activities and deliver comprehensive Project Data Collection Reports that reflect accurate financial performance and lessons learned

  • Manage project content and document filing structures using OpenText software, ensuring systematic archiving and accessibility of all project-related financial records

  • Enforce compliance with Roche ethics, procurement, and financial stewardship policies while working effectively across multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensure transparent and consistent adherence to Engineering Manual, Procurement and Site Finance procedures including tax and duties issues.

  • Checks the payment application or invoice with the performance of the suppliers.

  • Ensure actual data figures in the Local Accounting System are project related and coded accurately.

  • Administer together with procurement that the following registers are available and auditable: bid evaluations, (sub-) contracts, insurance, bank guarantees, warranties, retentions, change orders, payment applications, temporary assets, risk, (de)mobilization.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, or business administration with PMI, RICS, or ACCEi Project Control Professional certification (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Finance Accountant, with strong expertise in project controls, CAPEX accounting, and financial administration

  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across matrix organizations, working effectively with project managers, finance leadership, procurement, contractors, and affiliate accountants to align financial objectives and drive results

  • Advanced proficiency in SAP, MS Office, and Google Suite combined with excellent analytical skills to monitor financial performance, reconcile data, and identify corrective actions

  • Strong stakeholder management capability demonstrated through your ability to build credibility, navigate cross-functional dynamics, and communicate financial information clearly to diverse audiences ranging from finance professionals to project operational teams

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Mississauga is 115,328.00 and 151,368.00 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors as determined by the company.
