Senior Backend Platform Engineer

In the role of Senior Backend Platform Engineer in the Jabra Hearing Engineering team, you will contribute to our purpose of Bringing People Closer. You will design, build, and evolve scalable backend systems powering digital hearing care solutions used by customers worldwide.

You will be responsible for backend services from end to end—designing solutions, implementing new features, and enhancing existing microservices to maintain performance, scalability, and reliability.

Jabra Hearing aims to make hearing care more accessible through technology by integrating telemedicine with GN's advanced audio knowledge.

The team you will be part of:

You will join a cross-functional engineering team working closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders across regions. The team develops and scales the backend services that run the Jabra Enhance digital platform.

Your contribution is appreciated, and you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices

  • Own features end-to-end, from design and architecture through implementation and deployment

  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to define technical solutions

  • Improve system performance, scalability, security, and reliability through debugging and optimization

  • Work across areas such as data modeling, service communication, error handling, and system integrations

  • Plan and coordinate feature releases to ensure smooth delivery and minimal business impact

  • Support and mentor team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvement of backend systems

  • Act as a binding link between engineering teams, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.

To thrive in this role, we expect you to bring:

  • Demonstrated history of designing, building, and maintaining microservices architectures and service-oriented systems

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, production-ready software

  • Solid experience working with both relational and non-relational databases, including SQL proficiency

  • Solid background in building backend systems using Node.js, GraphQL, Express.js, PostgreSQL, React, and AWS

  • Practical experience designing, building, and debugging APIs, along with working on distributed backend systems

  • Deep commitment to software craftsmanship, maintaining clean code, and effective team-based development

  • Experience with frontend technologies such as TypeScript is beneficial.

For this role, we work in a hybrid setup and collaborate closely with teams in the United States, which may require some flexibility in working hours to ensure effective overlap.
