Job Description

Ares is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Digital Infrastructure accounting team. Ares is seeking an accounting professional to support and take initiatives across a range of accounting areas as Ares continues to increase in size and complexity. This role will be responsible for accounting for Ares Investments in the funds that we manage and the modernization of Ares’ investment process, including collection, transformation, recording, and reporting.

Primary functions and essential responsibilities

  • Responsible for fund accounting for the Digital Infrastructure portfolio, including:
    • Accounting for capital activity, corporate actions, and valuations of investments in the Digital Infrastructure funds
    • Performing accounting research, reaching accounting conclusions around rechargeability of fund costs and other relevant areas - support of the business as required
    • Ongoing management of fund billing and cost allocations in coordination with Corporate Accounting team
    • Building good working relationships with other business functions, particularly portfolio management and investor relations
  • Ownership for analyzing, solutioning and operationalizing best in class investment accounting and reporting practices, including:
    • Seeking end-to-end accounting and reporting with minimal manual intervention once securities are booked at point of entry
    • Ongoing support of new global development technology and Financial ERP implementations
    • Enhancing top-down dashboard reporting for management to be able to review, reference and absorb information quickly on the performance of the business
  • Responsibility and support of the global development accounting function, including:
    • Coordination with regional teams in US, Japan, and UK for monthly close
    • Assisting with required asset reporting for tracking project status and cash flow forecasting
  • Contributing to various special projects including capital transactions, acquisitions, and process improvements to improve overall group efficiencies
  • Helping to automate other accounting and financial reporting requirements through employing available AI tools
  • Support internal reporting requirements and other ad-hoc requests of various internal users including other finance and accounting teams, investor relations, and the front office.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is considered a plus.
  • CPA or CA preferred.
     

Experience: 

  • 4+ years of progressive professional experience in accounting.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Financial services experience is preferred. Exposure to investment management, fund accounting, and SEC reporting, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager and/or Procore solutions a plus

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
