[What the role is]

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. EMA regulates the electricity and piped gas industries and district cooling services in designated areas, and is also responsible for ensuring the security, reliability and adequacy of electricity supply.

[What you will be working on]

Responsibilities:

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is strengthening its capabilities in data analytics, modelling and digital integration to better support Singapore's evolving energy landscape. As part of EMA's strategic shift toward deeper policy–tech integration and more responsive, data‑driven planning, the Data Analytics Department (DAD) is expanding its resourcing to meet growing analytical and modelling needs. In this role, you will leverage your statistics and data science expertise to enhance EMA's analytical and modelling capabilities and support evidence‑based decision‑making for the energy sector. The key responsibilities of the officer include:

  • Apply advanced analytics to uncover insights from high‑frequency, locational, sectoral and system datasets, enabling evidence‑based planning, timely regulatory interventions, and deeper understanding of demand behaviour across the energy landscape.        

  • Develop higher-frequency and more granular forecasting models using statistical, econometric and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) techniques to forecast demand, supply, costs, emissions and market outcomes for energy transition planning.

  • Develop interactive dashboards, visual analytics and modelling tools that enables real‑time monitoring and insights, seamless simulation of energy pathways, and more responsive decision‑making across EMA's infrastructure planning, policy formulation and regulatory functions.

[What we are looking for]

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of working experience in handling data analytics, forecasting or AI/ML projects. Education in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or other related disciplines with substantial quantitative content should apply.

  • Knowledge in energy sector would be an advantage.

  • Excellent analytical, coordination and communication (written and verbal) skills are critical for this position.

  • Applicants must possess an independent problem-solving mindset with a strong desire to find innovative and 'out of the box' solutions to problems.

  • Applicants must have experience with using SAS, SQL, Python, R and/or any other major programming language for data science and applications.  

  • Applicant must be a committed team player, with a strong interest to shape Singapore's energy landscape. ​
