Fullstack Engineer

As a FullStack Engineer with a backend focus in the Fintech team, you will design and build scalable backend systems, APIs, and integrations that power EQT’s financial and operational platforms. This role combines strong system design, cloud infrastructure, and database expertise with close collaboration across an international team.

About the Fintech team

The Fintech team is part of EQT’s Technology organization and focuses on building and maintaining the financial systems and integrations that support EQT’s private markets operations. The team plays a key role in ensuring accurate, secure, and scalable handling of financial and operational data across the Group.

You will join a distributed team of around 20 engineers and product managers located across four countries. We work closely with FullStack, Application, and Data Engineers to design robust integrations, reliable APIs, and modern cloud-based solutions that enable transparency, efficiency, and control in our financial processes.

About the role

As a FullStack Engineer with a backend focus, your main objective is to design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure backend systems and integrations within the Fintech domain. You will contribute to core financial platforms and ensure they are built for performance, auditability, and long-term sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, document, and maintain performant, reliable, auditable, and secure backend systems.
  
  
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations, both internal and third-party.
  
  
• Develop and maintain an internal master data management-like system for creating and managing master records and mapped data points.
  
  
• Model and implement secure, scalable relational databases, primarily using PostgreSQL.
  
  
• Maintain and optimize backend infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform.
  
  
• Write clean, standardized, testable, and reusable TypeScript and Node.js code.
  
  
• Collaborate with FullStack, Application, and Data Engineers to expose and consume data through well-designed APIs.
  
  
• Lead technical initiatives from design through deployment, ensuring smooth delivery and high quality.
  
  
• Contribute to integration testing and promote best practices in system design and security.
  
  

About you

You are a structured and thoughtful engineer who enjoys solving complex backend challenges in the context of financial systems. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly, and are comfortable driving multiple initiatives independently. You value strong system design, secure coding practices, and collaboration across disciplines and cultures.

Essential skills and experience:

• Proven experience building backend systems and integrations using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience with React or similar frameworks such as Next.js.

• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.

• Experience with integration testing and version control using Git.

• Strong understanding of database design, caching concepts, and secure development practices.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with Data Engineers on data modeling and data integration topics.

• Professional fluency in written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with NestJS.

• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.

• Experience working with microservices architectures.

• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.

• Experience with single sign-on solutions and tools such as Cloudflare or Okta.

• Experience documenting APIs using OpenAPI or similar standards.

• Experience with Python.

• Experience leveraging AI coding tools in daily development workflows, with careful review of generated code.
