Credit Team decisions credit actions across the lifecycle of a customer – from acquisition to account management to collections and recover – we work towards managing credit and fraud losses and elevating customer experience through powerful and proprietary insights on customer risk and credit behaviors. The actionable insights are driven by access to numerous alternative data sources, new age technologies, focused strategies, emerging algorithms, and predictive precision. Spread across 10 pillars the credit team in India caters to the entire gamut of decision sciences, from data management to model development to strategy design, and bringing it all to life through technology, and managing within the guardrails of our regulatory requirements. Role Summary/Purpose :

Sr. Analyst – Data science role is a part Credit  . Our team comprises of data analysts who focus on improving best fraud/account management/credit/ collection process experience etc. and growth by providing full stack descriptive to prescriptive analytics via cutting edge technologies to support business objectives.

The candidate would be part of the Credit  -Model Development team providing valuable expertise in application/solution development for analytics use cases enabling Synchrony’s growth and profitability. The candidate must be passionate about data products, analytics solutions and applications, keen on learning new technologies. The role will require working/coordinating with the project manager/stakeholders. This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and explore datasets to find opportunities for fraud / credit/ Marketing models through data analytics.

  • Support the development of the Analytics Platform initiative

  • Solve business problem with Statistical, Machine Learning technics.

  • Responsible for delivery of various engagements of model development, documentation, validation, testing, monitoring and other organization wide initiatives.

  • Support the model risk management process including model validation, response to independent review questions and assisting in the development of action plans to address model governance/validation findings.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Bachelor degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field with 0 to 2 years of hands-on Analytics experience (Distance learning not valid) or in lieu of a degree with 2+ years of hands-on Analytics experience.

  • Prior hands-on experience in building predictive models (using techniques like logistic, linear regression, decision tree, clustering, Random Forest, XG Boost, Text Mining – Topic Modeling, Sentiment Analysis etc.)

  • Strong Programming skills (SQL, SAS/ Python) with 1+ years of analytics work experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to collaborate ,articulate and present solutions cutting across functional teams in a simple yet compelling manner undefined

Desired Skills / knowledge:

  • Exposure to big data programming - Pyspark etc.

  • Exposure to predictive tools like H2O, SAS Viya, AWS SageMaker, Bedrock,  Alteryx etc.

  • Experience in handling large data, creating reports and giving business insights

  • Should have good working knowledge in Python/ Java, JavaScript, Java, NodeJS, HTML and MySQL to deliver solutions across JavaScript, python and Java tech stacks

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Bachelor degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field with 0 to 2 years of hands-on Analytics experience (Distance learning not valid) or in lieu of a degree with 2+ years of experience.

  • Strong Programming skills (SQL, SAS/ Python) with 1+ years of analytics work experience

Work Timings:

  • This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
