Senior Analyst - Data Center Operations

The Senior Analyst - Data Center Operations is an individual contributor role responsible for hands‑on support of data center provisioning, hardware lifecycle management, backup and restore operations, tape/media management and operational queues. This role follows a fixed working pattern of Sunday–Wednesday, 08:00–18:00 and requires a minimum of two days per week physically in the office. Wednesday is a mandatory in‑office day to support team integration.

We will count on you to:

  • Support data center provisioning and hardware lifecycle management: receive orders, coordinate deliveries with vendors, facilities, networking and other technical teams.

  • Perform system decommissioning and secure asset disposal; maintain certificates of destruction for servers, disk media and other retired equipment in line with policy and legal requirements.

  • Support break/fix hardware failures: coordinate vendor on‑site support, log and manage change requests, and ensure application and system support groups are notified of hardware issues and progress.

  • Manage team incident, request, change and problem queues; prioritise work and ensure timely resolution in accordance with agreed SLAs.

  • Complete backup restores within SLA, including File, Messaging, Legacy and Legal restores across Arcserve, Backup Exec and Commvault platforms.

  • Monitor backup jobs daily and conduct regular restore testing to validate recovery procedures and reliable operation.

  • Ensure media retention, destruction or transfer to inactive storage is completed according to corporate policy and legal requirements; track recalled media to ensure secure return and handling.

  • Maintain accurate asset records and update asset management systems throughout each item’s lifecycle.

  • Produce clear, audit‑ready documentation and ticket notes for installations, decommissions, restores and media handling activities.

What you need to have?

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in data center operations, systems engineering or a similar hands‑on infrastructure role.

  • Intermediate to advanced networking knowledge, with practical experience troubleshooting switch/router behaviour, VLANs, subnetting, routing, SAN networking and basic load balancing.

  • Intermediate to advanced infrastructure and cloud experience: hands‑on familiarity with server and storage platforms, virtualization technologies and cloud platforms.

  • Foundational security awareness : understanding of basic security controls relevant to data centre operations and media handling.

  • A willingness to quickly grow security capability and follow strict security and compliance processes is essential.

  • Practical experience with server and storage installation, racking, cabling and hardware lifecycle procedures.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English (additional local language skills advantageous).

  • Certifications or hands‑on experience related to storage, backup technologies or data center operations.

  • Solid experience with incident, request, change and problem management processes and tools; familiarity with ITIL practices is desirable.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders (vendors, facilities, networking, application teams) to deliver provisioning, break/fix and decommissioning tasks.

  • Excellent attention to detail, good documentation practices and ability to maintain electronic records for audit purposes.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet SLA targets.
