What Cloud Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Cloud Engineering analyzes the financial, operational, and technical feasibility of adopting external cloud based IT software, platform and infrastructure services. This job family evaluates the costs and benefits of cloud, virtual private networks, dedicated housing, and in-house solutions and identifies portions of the organization’s IT infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment. Cloud Engineering also manages the implementation of cloud services and their integration with in-house applications and systems, coordinating with vendors and adhering to engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in related field / technology
  • BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field. Advance Degree may be required
  • Strong understanding in the general concepts of OS' and cloud platforms' performance, and security concepts and how it affects the overall functionality of the OS
  • Understands the high-level concepts and architecture of Cloud platforms. Knowledgeable on navigating, editing, monitoring, and investigating from Cloud platforms and the like
  • Able to analyze and recommend on resource allocation based on capacity management and analysis on Cloud platforms
  • Ability to create intermediate to advance scripting methods to enhance or automate certain tasks, within OS and outside (GCP, AWS)
  • Resourceful on utilizing monitoring tools, extracting logs, and engaging vendors for investigating and analyzing issues
  • Knows the basic concept of networking, firewall rulings and ports and how it impacts OS / platform performance
  • Able to create Change control activities based off on the overall infrastructure availability and present to CCB
  • Able to perform root cause analysis and recommends permanent corrective actions based on the analysis
  • Ability to create data-driven reports and analysis using tools provided within CAH.
