Lush’s ethical charter empowers every employee to play a role in leaving the world Lusher than we found it. We are looking for someone to join our Finance team as a Senior Accountant. 


The Senior Accountant is responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with the needs of the business and ensuring the day to day operations flow smoothly. This includes verifying that general ledger accounts are reconciled and compliance and reporting requirements are met with accuracy and timeliness. This role works closely with the accounting team  to meet the needs of the business.


The Senior Accountant's core RESPONSIBILITIES will include:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements on a timely basis
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Prepare, review and approve journal entries as needed for month and year end close transactions
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliation resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities as needed
  • Liaise with other departments to analyze financial results and forecast future expenditures
  • Coordinate the preparation of the monthly financial management reports, supporting schedules and commentary for submission to stakeholders
  • Present month-end results and variance analysis to management and stakeholders
  • Assist and coordinate the interim and year end audit process
  • Monitor and support taxation issues to ensure compliance
    Support the tax team with worksheets to help with the filing of US and Canadian income tax return and tax audits as needed
  • Develop and maintain financial databases
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Prepare technical accounting memos to assess the impact of new initiatives
  • Work with other departments who supply information to the finance department, and assist with other department’s needs as it relates to finance
  • Reconcile and maintain intercompany transactions
  • Provide supervision and mentorship of the Junior Accountant and Accountants
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required 

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or active CPA candidate
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in industry
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (ASPE experience an asset)
  • Advanced Excel, DAX, and Power BI skills
  • A keen eye for detail and strong analytical abilities
  • Strong work ethic with a proactive, self-motivated approach
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High integrity and professionalism; a model of honesty, openness, and transparency in every dimension of your role

Preferred:

  • Experience in retail or manufacturing environments

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $90,000 CAD, plus benefits

Job Type: Regular, Full Time 

Location: Vancouver, Hybrid - Ability to work from the office three days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays)

This salary range is based on an assessment of the local market and may vary depending on the successful candidate's location. This range is based on base salary and does not include additional bonus program and total rewards eligibility.
