Join us as a Senior Accountancy Specialist in our Finance team and help ensure robust, compliant, and insight-led financial operations that enable our mission to deliver life-changing medicines to patients.

What you’ll do :

  • Country finance leadership: Manage the delivery of finance support at the country level, ensuring alignment with AstraZeneca’s global guidelines and standards.

  • Tax expertise: Oversee tax support across Portugal, covering key areas such as corporate tax and withholding tax, and act as a point of contact for local tax matters.

  • Governance and compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory, governance, and internal controls, embedding best practices and continuous improvement.

  • Ownership and delivery: Lead multiple finance activities independently, escalating only the most complex issues when required to maintain momentum and quality.

  • Subject-matter leadership: Serve as a finance specialist in a defined technical area, providing expert advice and leading related project delivery.

  • Business partnership: Collaborate closely with management to align on priorities and tailor finance support to local business needs.

  • Policy and process improvement: Regularly review finance policies and processes, identify enhancement opportunities, and drive actionable recommendations.

About you :

  • Experience: 3–4 years in a specialist area such as tax, audit, or accounting, with a strong foundation in finance and exposure to international clients and global organizations.

  • Education: Degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Regulatory fluency: In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements with a strong emphasis on governance and compliance.

  • Communication: Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Tools and systems: Knowledge of SAP is advantageous.

  • Collaboration and influence: Strong interpersonal skills with proven stakeholder engagement capability.

  • Mindset: Problem-solving and creative approach to develop pragmatic, high-quality solutions.
