Job Summary: A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader over a crew of seasonal workers tasked with performing seasonal laboring work such as bridge, trail, and campground maintenance.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) Ability To Lead Or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREENOUT: To meet this screen out you must have performed common tasks associated with the position of Laborer Leader with close supervision. Tasks include leading others in both trail and campground maintenance and construction, assigning immediate tasks to be performed by individual crew members, planning work assignments several days in advance, anticipate needs, evaluate site conditions, and develop strategies prior to assigning work. Taught safe work practices and techniques while ensuring proper use of equipment in the construction of foot bridges, walkways (boardwalks), unpaved trail erosion control, removal of hazard trees (rigging, felling, chainsaw operation), grading, sign repair/installation, selective brush removal, building tent pads, and installation/maintenance of privies.
