Job Summary: Great Basin National Park in Baker Nevada's Summer season is typically from April to June with an expected entry on duty in April and National Monument & Preserve in Cave Junction, Oregon Summer season is typically March to September with an expected entry on duty in March.

Major Duties:

• The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 6 months (1,039 hours) work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between park sites depending on funding, weather conditions, visitation, and project needs. Duty Locations/Parks/Salary: Great Basin National Park: Baker NV - $21.35-24.91 National Monument & Preserve: Cave Junction, OR - $22.27-25.98 Major Duties: Keep the exterior/interior of buildings, public restrooms, jobsites, work areas, neat and clean by sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, shoveling, mowing, and blowing debris. Operate large, complex riding lawn mowers that have multiple or controlled cutting decks. Operate other types of equipment i.e., lawn edging equipment, trimmers, blowers etc. Perform labor requiring incumbent to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Digs ditches, cleans gutters, shovels snow, etc. Uses hand and power tools to assist in carpentry, plumbing etc. Physical Demands: The work performed requires the exertion of very heavy physical effort in operating large riding mowers; or lawn and garden tractors on grades and in areas with bushes, trees, and other visible obstacles that require significant maneuvering and lever control. The work involves lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds, and in some cases, carrying 80 to 100 pounds (or more) with assistance. Working Conditions: Outside work is usually performed under all kinds of weather conditions. Indoor work is often accomplished in office buildings or in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas such as warehouses, loading docks, or trade shops. Frequently exposed to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes. The equipment, tools, and tasks involved frequently require extreme care and use of safety gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, or respirators to avoid severe injuries.

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Have the ability to do the work of a Laborer without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Work experience such as used a wide variety of light hand and power tools. Operate heavy power equipment such as chainsaws, lawnmowers, string trimmers, weed whackers, brush cutters, chippers, etc.) to clear brush and maintain grounds and roads. Erect signs, barriers, dig ditches, shovel dirt and asphalt, loads/unloads heavy supplies. Organize and clean work area. Keep vehicles, trailers, and equipment clean and operable. Performed general landscaping and grounds maintenance.
