Compensation

This position pays $12.00 per hour.

Job Description

Basic Purpose:

Perform a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor and general repair duties and/or assist craft personnel in grounds maintenance.

Seasonal Employees may work up to 40 hours each week with the employment term beginning April 1 and ending September 30 each year.

Sequoyah Lodge is located in Sequoyah State Park with 150 lodging accommodations: 104 Lodge Rooms & Suites, 44 Duplex & Quadplex Cottage Units, a Lakehouse Cottage that sleeps 14, and a Bunkhouse that sleeps 38.

Example of Work Performed:

  • Cut grass, weeds, trees, and brush; clean culverts, drains, and ditches; move, load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment; haul or carry sand, lumber, asphalt, and cement or other materials;
  • Landscaping work, trim trees and shrubs, planting flowers, rake grass, sweep walks; pick up trash and perform general clean-up and custodial duties.
  • Assisting in minor building maintenance or repair and similar work.
  • Other duties assigned

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods, and practices of grounds maintenance preferred. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions, use hand tools and high-speed power tools, perform the less skilled aspects of grounds maintenance, and physically perform manual labor.

Education and Experience:

No experience required. Must be at least 18 years or older.

Training will be provided in operational use of equipment and completing more advanced tasks, such as the disposal of restricted or environmentally hazardous materials.

Special Requirements:

To operate state-owned vehicles in the performance of regularly assigned duties; a successful applicant must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment.
