Position Overview

The Scrum Master – Data supports Agile delivery across Data Engineering teams by facilitating Scrum practices, maintaining execution discipline, and providing transparency into delivery health, metrics, and risks. This role partners closely with engineering leadership, product owners, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure work is planned, tracked, and delivered in alignment with organizational priorities and data roadmaps.

The ideal candidate combines strong Agile facilitation skills with operational rigor and a data‑driven mindset, enabling teams to deliver predictably while continuously improving Agile maturity.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Execution & Facilitation

  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Data Engineering teams.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies as needed, including daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support sprint kickoff and sprint close activities, including sprint goal definition, confidence voting, and goal completion review.
  • Promote consistent and effective application of Agile/Scrum practices while supporting continuous improvement.

Backlog & Delivery Management

  • Monitor and maintain backlog health across Data teams, ensuring:
    • PBIs, features, and epics are actively progressing
    • Work items have clear ownership, status, and target dates
  • Identify and surface delivery risks, stalled work, and dependency issues early.
  • Track sprint velocity, feature progress, and epic completion trends.

Metrics, Dashboards & Reporting

  • Maintain and review Agile and Data delivery dashboards.
  • Collect and analyze delivery metrics such as:
    • Epic and feature completion status
    • Backlog quality and aging work items
    • Upcoming and past‑due target dates
  • Proactively communicate insights, risks, and trends to engineering managers and leadership.

Roadmap Alignment & Dependency Management

  • Support alignment between initiatives, epics, features, and approved roadmap priorities.
  • Partner with leaders to review capacity, sequencing, and feasibility of planned work.
  • Identify cross‑team dependencies, blockers, and risks; assist in developing mitigation plans.

Operational & Leadership Support

  • Participate in recurring operational, management, and roadmap review meetings.
  • Provide leadership visibility into delivery health, process adherence, and improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted partner to engineering managers and product owners on Agile execution matters.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a Scrum Master or Agile delivery role in a technology environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Scrum and Agile principles.
  • Experience supporting multiple teams, backlogs, and delivery metrics.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfort working in data‑centric or engineering‑heavy teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, Platforms, or similar technical domains.
  • Experience working with Agile tools and dashboards (e.g., Azure DevOps or comparable platforms).
  • Scrum Master or Agile certification (CSM, PSM, or equivalent).
